Hello there my stamping friends!! It’s time for another Sunday challenge from The Paper Players! This week Sandy has given us a fun color combination!!
I fussed a bit with this combination. First I tried flowers. Nope. Then I tried a nautical theme. Nope. Both good options if you want to use them yourselves, but they just weren’t working for me. Then I inadvertently put Real Red next to Island Indigo and thought “little boy birthday colors!!!” And whamo! my whole card popped into my head.
Do you like it???? I L-O-V-E it!!! More than anything in a long time…these colors are just perfect for this sweet little dinosaur!! He looks like he could be up to a bit of mischief!! Do you see the paper I used for the envelope liner? I am OUT of coordinating DSP stack papers in Real Red and Island Indigo and my new papers haven’t arrived, so I went digging through my stash and would you believe I found this perfect paper in a Christmas themed pack!! Who knew!!
I stamped with red along the side and then cut a layer to fit over top. I used my dual-stitched oval dies to add the opening and then stamped, die-cut, and popped the dinosaur up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I embossed the ‘dino-mite’ sentiment with white embossing powder. There are a few strays, sorry about that, my Embossing Buddy is nowhere to be found!! Personally, I think it’s hiding from me because I usually have a few negative comments about it every time I use it (I HATE the feel of the powder) but I have instituted a full on search…it can’t hide for long!! lol
The layout was inspired by the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches…they always have such fun designs! Now let’s see if I can remember to link up! (I forgot last week, so sad)
And a close up of this little guy…so adorable!! And the sprinkles add just the perfect touch of Pool Party!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my project today, feel free to leave some love or tips on where my Embossing Buddy may have hidden, and make sure to see the awesome inspiration from the rest of the design team!!

A sweet card that makes me smile! Very fun and that dinosaur DOES look mischievous. This will make some little boy smile too!
Shannon this is absolutely adorable! I love your mischeivous little dinosaur and how you put the sentiment on banners. What fun that you found your papers in a Christmas stack, too. Thanks for rocking my colors this week!
This card is absolutely spectacular! I can’t even think of anything else to say! PS. The Dino probably stole the embossing buddy as a bed. Just a thought 🙂
This is such a fun card Shannon – my 7 year old son would love it! Great use of the colours and I love the use of the bold indigo banner – truly dino-rrific!
So sweet Shannon! Can’t help but smile looking at this card. A lucky little guy will love this!
This is so cute! I love how you’ve arranged the sentiment. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
Your dino is so cute! I like the look on his face. How sweet is this for a little guy!
These are great little boy birthday colors! That dinosaur is just too cute – as is your whole card!
Awesome card! Love that little dinosaur peeking out from the die cut oval. The colors are awesome with your design! 🙂
OMG!, this absolutely gorgeousness! Love that you didn’t have to color him, and everything just pops. So cute!
Totally a little boy birthday card color combo!! And what an adorable card this is! That dinosaur is fabulous. Glad to see you this week at FMS!
I always think of my son when I see dinosaurs since he was the expert on all of them as a little boy. This stamp and card bring back those memories and I can’t stop smiling. Absolutely adorable card in the challenge colors!
Your little dino is perfect for the colors, and perfect for a little boy birthday! Or a little girl…my DGD just saw the new dino set in the SU catalog and told me she wanted me to get it for her!! LOL! The sketch is perfect too…love the cutout portion and your awesome embossed sentiment!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what you did with the color combo! Ok enabler! I am going to have to purchase that dinosaur. My boys lived and breathed dinosaurs when they were little and now I have two grandsons. Thank you! The layout is just perfect to feature this little fellow! XX, My Friend!
This is the cutest card!! Love that dinosaur – he’s not scary at all! Thanks for sharing!
