Butterfly Birthday – The Paper Players 247

It’s Sunday and another challenge for you this week from The Paper Players:

05:31pp247I love the Tic-Tac-Toe challenges! So many fun options to choose from! Here’s how I decided to go this week: Die-cut, Pattern Paper and Yellow, with just a sprinkling of blue and birthday 🙂

SKP Watermarked Photos4-023 I wanted to share a very special experience that I had this past Friday. I got to work alongside Stephanie Barnard and the Stamps of Life team in their booth at the San Diego Scrapbook Expo! Oh my goodness, it was sooo much fun to be there, help people discover stamping and enabling them with the wonderful product! The best experience happened late in the day when a lady just came into the booth and stood there. When she saw me, she announced that the Stamps of Life booth was SUCH a happy place that she just had to stand there and soak it all in. Yep, that sums it up perfectly!

I cam home Saturday and transferred some of that happy in paper and ink. And my card today is not only happy, it has a surprise…

SKP Watermarked Photos4-024Do you see what’s happening here? There’s a surprise inside!

SKP Watermarked Photos4-025Ta Da!! A fun flip it card with a special greeting hiding inside as well as a hidden panel on which to write your message!

SKP Watermarked Photos4-026Hmmm…I just had to pause there and soak in all the happy in this card! I created this card with the Sizzix Large Circle Flip-It Die, the hidden panel was invented by Stephanie and you can see here how she does it! I think the hidden panel just makes the card a bit more special 🙂

I added lots of sparkle to my card, and for once you can actually see it! Isn’t this butterfly fun? I created it with the Sizzix Triplits-Butterfly Dies. There are so many fun options with this die, AND is also has a coordinating stamp set for even more!! Please check it out and see for yourself!

SKP Watermarked Photos4-028Here’s a close up of the inside panel.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed my little bit of sunshine here today! Being around all those stamps and dies has my creative juices flowing!

I’m looking forward to seeing your creations this week, I do hope you will play along with us!

If you’re not inspired enough, here’s some more awesome inspiration for you:

Birdie Birthday

Birdie BirthdayHello Friends! I’m back, sharing a fun birthday card I created for 1) a birthday, and 2) a challenge issued by Stephanie Barnard of The Stamps of Life. If I post a card using the stamp set birdcage2stamp to their online gallery, I qualify for a chance to win a free stamp set!  Free is good, so off I went to make a card…three hours later…

Yes, sometimes I get carried away in the process, but it’s so much fun!! Do you do that as well? Lose track of time while stamping? It sure does take away the angst of the work day!!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-093Here’s a peek from the side so you can see how it folds together. The die is super easy to use!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-094And up close of the bird cage. I actually used the Sizzix adhesive sheets along with the die to die cut 3 birdcages and then I layered them to create a bit more of a 3-D effect. It was easier to do than it sounds, lol. And aren’t the birdies adorable with their cut out heart wings??

SKP Watermarked Photos3-096I layered two different TSOL ribbons and tied them into a fun knot as an accent and then I heat embossed the birthday greeting in black embossing powder. I stamped and die cut two additional birdies to accent the greeting. And the little hearts…are they too precious?? I think I’ll be pulling those hearts out frequently to use on other cards!

So there you have it…I’m off to post my card to the on-line gallery…wish me luck on winning the free stamp set! And if you would like to participate as well, you can post to the gallery as well, please let me know if you do so I can pop over to see!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

A Ride in the Park – Paper Players 243

Greetings, Friends! It’s Sunday and that means another fun challenge from the Paper Players:

pp243

Isn’t this a great idea for a challenge? Thanks, Sandy! This is the perfect opportunity to share another fun set from The Stamps of Life:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-078Isn’t it FUN??? The stamp set is called bicycle2stamp and has an additional set to coordinate with called morebicycle2stamp and there is also a coordinating die set!! It’s so fun to have options! Isn’t the basket fun? It’s a separate die and is designed so you can see inside the basket! So I loaded it up with flowers!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-079Here is a picture of the card base and how it works. The card is called a “stand up” card for obvious reasons and is made very quickly and easily using a die called the Square Stand Up Card. It is a standard A2 card size, it’s just designed so that one side can stand up. There is even a notch to help it can stand up securely.

So, I used the die to cut my card base, and then I laid a piece of darling pattern paper from the April Card Kit over one half of the die and ran it back through the Big Shot. I snipped off the sides that fold back and was left with a perfectly sized cover for my card stock. I then used another coordinating product called For You & Thank You, it has square dies that are sized to compliment the card base! I used those to make the back drop for my sentiment…which fits perfectly inside! I just love having lots of coordinating/complimenting products! Did you notice the pretty ribbon? Also from the April Card Kit and a dream to work with!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-080Can you see the notch that keeps the card standing up? So awesome!! And stamping the pink bike frame within the bicycle frame was a cinch using the MISTI tool. Of course I had to add Wink of Stella to make the pink sparkle! Who wouldn’t want a sparkly pink bike? And a basket of white blooms, all sparkly as well 🙂

I have the perfect person in mind to send this to, and hope that she displays it on her desk at work and that it brings a smile to her face each time she looks at it!

Please visit the other designers and their very inspiring work!

Happy Birthday Step-Up

SKP Watermarked Photos3-067A few weeks ago I posted a card using The Stamps of Life Happy Birthday Step Up Dies (here). I’m excited to share another card I made using the exact same die plus a few ‘extras’! I had so much fun playing with more exclusive Stephanie Bernard pattern paper! I know I went a little crazy with the pink but I love it!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-068I wanted to show the sentiment I added to the steps and all the fun flowers! And then…the cake!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-069So easy and fun to create birthday cards that can sit out and be a birthday party all by themselves!!

I’m excited because The Stamps of Life are made right here in Southern California and today they are having a ‘store’ day!! Lots of shopping and a class too!! I’ll be off early as it’s a bit of a drive for me and I want to do a ‘bit’ of shopping! (wink, wink)

I hope you have fun plans for your Saturday as well!! I will be posting a bit of my day over on Instagram and Facebook if you’d care to go with me!!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

Birthday Step-Up for The Paper Players #239

I love Sundays for the simple joy of sharing another FUN challenge from The Paper Players with you!!

pp239Wow. Use a die-cut? How wide open is THAT challenge?? I love it!! Here we go….

SKP Watermarked Photos3-035Call me an over achiever, but it turns out that all I ended up using on my card WAS dies!! I didn’t realize it until I was done and had to chuckle to myself!

Isn’t this die A-W-E-S-O-M-E??? I saw it at the Scrapbook Expo I attended a recently and I had to have it. It’s the Sizzix Happy Birthday Step-Ups Die Set, designed by Stephanie Bernard of The Stamps of Life. I’ve mentioned her before here on my blog. She is a local-to-me stamp designer who collaborates with Sizzix on many projects, but also has her own line of products as well.

SKP Watermarked Photos3-037She has also recently started a card kit club! By the time I learned she had started a card kit club, I had missed March’s shipment 🙁 BUT, she had some kits for sale at the Scrapbook Expo!! Yay! Check out the video of the card kit to see all the fun contents of the kit. And I’m so enamored with her new line of 6 x6 paper pads, the quality is the BEST, the colors too cute, and the patterns mimic many of her stamps. It can’t get much better than that!!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-038Okay, the card. I used supplies in the March Card Kit for my card and combined it with dies from the Happy Birthday Step-Up die set. It’s pretty straight forward with just a few twists of my own:

  • I pulled the die for the pattern paper panel from the Balloons Step-Up Die Set
  • I added a hand cut layer of card stock behind the patterned paper panel because I wanted that extra ‘pop’ of color
  • I hand cut the layers for the panels for the “birth” and “day” panels – note that the two are NOT the same size (if you decide to follow suit and hand cut those panels)

SKP Watermarked Photos3-040I LOVE the twine in the March card kit. They MUST have more colors of it. I insist. I loved it so much, I had to use three layers of it for my bow. And yes, one of my loops fell down during my photo shoot without me noticing…I apologize for that 🙂

I added some fun epoxy dots I found at the Expo as well and bought in every color. I really like the teeny tiny size. They are from Queen and Co., local out of San Diego I believe.

SKP Watermarked Photos3-039 And there you have it! I would love to hear what you think about my card today and the products I used!

Please pop over and see what the team has created for you this week before you sit down and create a project to share with us!!
