A Flowery Hello – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #58

Stampin-Up-Vibrant-Vases-Love-and-Friendship-Cards-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-shannonkaypaperie-stampinup-su

Welcome! It’s Thursday and time for another Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge! I LOVE the design possibilities the challenge board offers and LOVE to see how YOU use it! This week Felicita is the featured designer – her board is SO awesome!! I went with a diagonal, from right to left: Layers, Ribbon, Stripes:

Stampin-Up-Vibrant-Vases-Love-and-Friendship-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-shannonkaypaperie-stampinup-su-2

Measurements:

  • Coastal Cabana Card Base 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
  • Pineapple Punch Card Stock Layer  3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
  • DSP Layer 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
  • Call Me Clover Card Stock Layer 2 13/16″ x 4 1/8″
  • White Card Stock Layer 2 5/8″ x 3 3/4″

Details:

  • When I first looked at the challenge board, I was going to use the far left column: Vibrant, Circle, Stripes. With that in mind, I reached for this long retired DSP, Best Year Ever. I have always loved it, especially those big blue watercolored stripes! With “vibrant’ in mind, I looked online for color combinations. Ultimately I went with one I came up with myself: Coastal Cabana, Call Me Clover, Pineapple Punch and Lovely Lipstick. Something to keep in mind if you like these colors together – all of the colors I have used with the exception of Coastal Cabana will be retiring June 2nd, so grab some now while you can!

  • The vase image comes with both an outline/design image and a solid color image so I combined the two. I stamped the one in Memento Tuxedo Black and the other in Coastal Cabana. I didn’t ink up the solid image perfectly, but I love the varied shades of blue as the result, it’s lighter in the middle and I think that’s perfect! I then colored the leaves in the vase with Call Me Clover – SO pretty!!
  • The flowers image was colored in Pineapple Punch with Lovely Lipstick centers and a bit of Wink of Stella on the petals. I do want to mention that there is a stamp image that will color in all of the flowers, I just chose to color it this time instead.
  • I was having trouble lining up the vase image with the flowers image so I reached for the coordinating Vase Builder Punch and just punched that vase out! 🙂

Stampin-Up-Vibrant-Vases-Love-and-Friendship-Cards-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-shannonkaypaperie-stampinup-su

  • I pulled the sentiment from the Varied Vases companion stamp set, Varied Vases, for a super simple design. And it works well for me as I have been sending cards out to family and friends, just to check in during these ‘social distancing’ times.
  • I played around with colors in my layers, ultimately settling on Call Me Clover and Pineapple Punch. But my finished card needed just a bit more Lovely Lipstick in it to balance everything out. Alas, I don’t have any Lovely Lipstick ribbon or Baker’s Twine, but…I DO have my Stampin’ Blends!! Stampin’ Blends to the rescue again!! I found this darling Whisper White Organza Ribbon in my retired stash – never even opened! I attached my itty bitty bow with a few glue dots.
  • As you can see, my completed card has NO circles on it – oh no!!! But after reviewing the board again I realized that I DID have all of the elements for the diagonal row Layered, Ribbon, Stripes – whew!! And that is what is so fun about the tic tac toe board – SO many options!!

Stampin-Up-Vibrant-Vases-Love-and-Friendship-Cards-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-shannonkaypaperie-stampinup-su

  • I reached for more coordinating images from the Varied Vases stamp set for the interior of the card. Doesn’t it look sweet stamped in Pineapple Punch?
  • I have a confession to make. I always take, and share, a photo of the interior of the card because if I don’t, 90% of the time I won’t finish the interior! Eek! It’s true, I have a tendency to finish the front and want to call it ‘good’. And if I don’t finish the interior, then I won’t be bothered with stamping my ‘stamped by’ stamp on the back, and it will be anarchy in my stamp room!! Cards laying half finished everywhere!! I know, it’s a terrible thought, so this is my way of keeping order, lol 🙂

And that’s it folks!! I truly hope you have been inspired to pull out your inky tools, but for even MORE inspiration, be sure to check out the designs by the rest of the talented Tic Tac Toe Challenge design team! Thank you SO much for stopping by my blog today and I can’t wait to see YOUR creations in the gallery over at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge!!

Just Cheeky – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #56

Whimsy-Stamps-Baby-Chick-Totem-Spring-and-Easter-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup-SU

It’s Thursday which means it is time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge! We’re using a board created for us by our featured designer, LeAnne. Pick a row, column or diagonal and play along! This time I went for the far left column and chose Easter Sentiment, Chick, Yellow.

Whimsy-Stamps-Baby-Chick-Totem-Spring-and-Easter-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup-SU

I’ve gone through ALL of my stamps and pulled out everything Spring and Easter related so fair warning that there will be lots of cheerful cards on my blog for the next while!!

Measurements:

  • Mango Melody Card Base 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
  • White Card Stock  4″ x 5 1/4″

Details:

  • This sweet card began with the cue word chick. I have very recently purchased this red rubber stamp called Baby Chick Totem from Whimsy Stamps. It just cracks me up, I love it so!! And it really reminds me of the characters by the Current Catalog company from many years ago, I believe entitled Suzy’s Zoo. I wonder if they are still around?!?

  • I went really bright with the colors today – I’m so pleased that Stampin’ Up! has added some really bright colors to their offerings. I started the chicks with a base of Light So Saffron, and then blended in both Light and Dark Mango Melody. Their beaks and limbs are Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie, the leaves are Light and Dark Call Me Clover, and the teeny flowers are Light Blackberry Bliss.
  • The Easter sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!’s Itty Bitty Greetings – itty bitty was perfect for this card!

  • I found some white baker’s twine in my stash and colored it with my Dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend – it’s SO fun to make custom colors!!
  • And of course both the flowers and the chicks have had Wink of Stella added – I just LOVE the sparkle!

Whimsy-Stamps-Baby-Chick-Totem-Spring-and-Easter-Cards-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup-SU.jpg

  • The interior of my card is quite simple, just a stitched rectangle as I wanted it to be in keeping with the rest of the card – clean and simple, letting the colored image take center stage.
  • I adore this darling DSP that I found to match everything perfectly – it’s from the Birthday Bonanza DSP!

I hope you are inspired by both the board and my card and that you find some time to play along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week! Please pop on over to the challenge to see the wonderful inspiration from the rest of the design team!!

Blessings to you!

Sending Shamrocks – Freshly Made Sketches 426

Fun-Stampers-Journey-Storybook-Creations-Thinking-of-You-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup-SU

I have realized that St. Patrick’s Day is almost here so I dove into my very small but very sweet stash of stamps for aforesaid occasion and put them to work!!

Measurements:

  • White Card Base 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
  • Layer of Pear Pizzazz Card Stock  4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Layer of  Balmy Blue Cardstock3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • Strip of DSP 1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″

Details:

  • I must confess that the traditional shade of green used for St. Patrick’s Day is probably my least favorite shade of all greens. {shudder} so I found a delightful combination of greens and blues in this pretty paper Plaid Patterns – Merry & Bright by MFT Stamps. Christmas paper of all things!!

  • I took my lead from the colors in the paper and used Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends to color this darling image by Fun stampers Journey.
  • I layered a piece of Balmy Blue card stock embossed with the Subtle embossing folder over a slightly larger piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock and then set the whole thing on top of a white card base.
  • A simple sentiment from the same stamp set and a bit of Wink of Stella complete this simple but sweet card. I LOVE the hint of St. Patrick’s Day in it!

  • The inside is very simple as well, leaving me a large space to write my message. I’m going to pop this in the mail to my mom!

Huge thanks to the Freshly Made Sketches design team, and to Karren for this week’s LOVELY sketch! XX

Have a wonderful, socially distant day and I will see you soon!!

Let Your Dreams Take Flight – CAS(E) This Sketch #362

Fun-Stampers-Journey-Blue-Skies-Congratulation-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-Shannon-Kay-Paperie

What?!? Purple AGAIN?? Absolutely!! I am over the moon for the combination of Highland Heather and Seaside Spray! Isn’t it delightful? It’s raining today in Southern California and I think the rain outside has affected my color choices 🙂

Measurements:

  • Highland Heather Card Base 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
  • Seaside Spray Card Stock 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • White Card Stock 3 3/4″ x 5″

Details:

  • Super simple design today for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge today! I came across this darling hot air balloon and KNEW it was THE one! I have used it before here and I really wanted to color it again, this time with alcohol markers. It was SO quick and easy to color!!

Fun-Stampers-Journey-Blue-Skies-Congratulation-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-Shannon-Kay-Paperie

  • Honestly, I went through every.single.stamp. I own to find the right sentiment for the sketch! But I’m very happy with the one I finally decided on. It’s from a very old set (I think) that I purchased secondhand, in a jumble of sets actually, by a company I have never heard of, but it was hot air balloons so I kept it and I’m so glad I did!
  • Once again, I have used gems from Honeybee Stamps. They really have a fantastic selection of colors!!

Fun-Stampers-Journey-Blue-Skies-Congratulation-Cards-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-Shannon-Kay-Paperie

  • Mmmm, I added Wink of Stella to the base and top of the balloon for a soft shimmer (which you can only just barely see, but it’s there!). And an itty Bitty Calypso Coral banner up top!

Fun-Stampers-Journey-Blue-Skies-Congratulation-Cards-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-Shannon-Kay-Paperie

  • A quick peek at the inside sentiments, which I think would work wonderfully for a graduation, a job change, or even a move to a new city!

Thank you to the CAS(E) This Sketch design team for their wonderful inspiration this week! It’s been a bit since I played – so glad I jumped in this week!!

Blessings to you!!

A Clean & Simple Birthday – Freshly Made Sketches 416

Birthday-Card-Idea-Felicity-Jane-Hip-Hip-Hooray-Shannon-Jaramillo-shannonkaypaperieHello and Happy New Year! It has been awhile since I have posted so I’m feeling a bit terrified to put myself out into the digital world again! 2019 has been a busy year and I am looking forward to (hopefully) spending more time creating and sharing in 2020! I always follow my friends over at Freshly Made Sketches and decided that if I could, I would jump in with the last sketch of 2019, and I’m so happy to spend my New Year’s Eve doing just that!

Isn’t it pretty?!? Clean and simple with lots of room for interpretation.

Details:

  • This sketch seemed like a great way to show off DSP so that’s where I started. I stood in my craft space facing my drawers of pattern paper collections and randomly pulled a drawer out – it turned out to be a monthly kit from Felicity Jane called “Jenny”. Every time I see their papers, I sigh with delight – GORGEOUS!

  • Did I lie?? G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. I pulled one sheet out and used my old stand by, Femme Frame by Mama Elephant, to die cut one rectangle from the front side and one rectangle from the back side. I tilted the rectangles and layered them onto the scalloped rectangle die from the same set, which i die cut from a coordinating piece of heavy DSP. Easy peasy. Now to decorate!!
  • Felicity Jane’s stamp and die set Hip Hip Hooray was my choice for creating my focal point. I stamped and die cut the sentiment and then stamped a star onto a coordinating embellishment from the “Jenny” collection and die cut them out with the coordinating die.

Birthday-Cards-Ideas-Felicity-Jane-Hip-Hip-Hooray-Shannon-Jaramillo-shannonkaypaperie

  • I created a sparkly bow with a bit of Stampin’ Up! gold metallic twine and a bit of Doodlebug Designs baker’s twine. I discovered that the gold metallic twine unwound into 6 separate threads so I went with the ‘messy’ look – I love it!! I attached the bow with a glue dot, the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the stars with Tombow adhesive tape.  A variety of colored and sparkly enamel dots add detail and a bit of playfulness to compliment the bow.
  • Using the bold black pattern as the envelope liner both mimics and accentuates the bold birthday sentiment. Such a FUN pattern!

And that’s it! A fun clean and simple card that took me about three hours to make!! lol. I’m rusty!! But it was fun to get my beloved toys out and make a really big mess. I can’t wait to do it again!! Thank you to Amy and the Freshly Made Sketches design team for their continued efforts to inspire us!!
