Frilly & Fabulous – CC35, CAS(E) this Sketch 123, CYCI70

SKP Watermarked Photos4-006Good morning! I hope your week is going well! I had a long crafting day this past weekend that allowed me to play along with some challenges. Yay!! I was determined to play with this new stamp set from Lil ‘Inkers called Modern Mehndi. My first thought was to stamp it in black and then color it in with Copic markers, but…yuck!! It just looked awful and I was so disappointed. After moving on and working on another project, it occurred to me that perhaps the stamps were meant to be stamped in color rather than in black so I tried that and am SO pleased with the result!!

SKP Watermarked Photos4-007I tried using a very pretty pattern paper on the card, but everything overwhelmed the flowers so I reverted back to clean and simple white, and those flowers sure do pop off the paper!! It’s not visible in the photo but I gently applied a coating of Wink of Stella to the flowers and flourishes to make them sparkle. It’s so pretty in real life!!

This card was inspired by three challenges: The Card Concept , CAS(E) this Sketch and the always fun Can You Case It. (Lots of “C”s going on there!) I love working with challenges to keep my perspective fresh and build new skills!

Welcome Friends! This week’s challenge from the Can You Case It Design Team is fun and simple…a holiday card!!

I came across this stamp set the other day that I purchased (cough) last year and never inked up. I had forgotten about the cute die that came with it! Well, I meant to get this card done sooner because as soon as I saw the sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch!, I knew exactly what card I wanted to make. But with one thing and the other, the sketch challenge is now closed. Well, the card was in my head and wouldn’t make way for other inspiration, so I had to go ahead and make it. Sometimes those design ideas can be pesky!

The overall feel of the card reminds me of a comfortable sweater, so warm and fuzzy.

Isn’t this die A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E?? The font is just amazing!! Because I used a patterned background, I die cut the sentiment four times and then just glued them together, one on top of the other. It really isn’t that hard, one you get one piece lined up properly, you can just push the rest of it together without difficulty. I use a very fine tip glue pen for this job.

I had a bit of fun with the outside of the envelope as well! I pulled a few bits and pieces from the Simon Says Stamp set Ornaments and just stamped a few fun images.

Well, that it’s for me today. I would love to hear what you think of my card! And Christmas…are you ready?? I am…ready to celebrate!!! That’s the important thing right? lol

Please pop over to the Can You Case It blog to see what the other designers have created for you and get those stamps and papers out and play along!

Wishing you joy and blessings…

Can You Case It #49 – Happier

That’s what this patterned paper makes me…happier! Isn’t it awesome?? I had it out on my desk from a earlier project so I thought, why not? There’s so much variety in these little 6 x 6 paper pads!!

I had a blast creating this card and am feeling wickedly pleased at how I maneuvered around the two layer max:

I used the Flower & Leaf Trio Die from My Favorite Things Stamps to die cut my flowers into a sheet of Vintage Cream cardstock. At the same time, I die cut the rectangular shape using ‘Lil Inker’s Stitched Mats – Rounded Rectangles Die.

Then I used the Flower & Leaf Trio Die again to die cut three flowers from coordinating papers and then inset all of those flowers into my Vintage Cream layer. All of this is backed by another coordinating paper and popped up off the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here’s a closer look:

I found a fun sentiment in the Expressions stamp set by The Stamps of Life and buttons from my stash. They are probably from Making Memories. I have had them for years so I was excited to be challenged to use them!

I felt that the card needed just a little bit more of ‘something’. That something turned out to be these adorable bitty sequins from Simon Says Stamp…the perfect finishing touch!!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I would be thrilled if you would take a minute to leave me a comment! Now, head on over to the Can You Case It Challenge page and see what inspiration the other designers have for you!!
