One for the Boys – The Paper Players 248

It’s Sunday and that means another fun challenge from The Paper Players! My stint as a guest designer is winding down, only three more after this (sniff), so I’m going to make them count!! This week’s challenge is a fun one, as well as very timely with Father’s Day just around the corner:

06:07pp248I found the BEST pack of 6×6 paper while at the Scrapbook Expo and have been itching to use it…it’s perfect for this challenge!! I may have gone overboard on all the patterns, but I couldn’t pick just one or two…

One for the Boys-The Paper Players 248Aren’t they AWESOME!!!??? And I found a stamp set I purchased YEARS ago that had never seen ink (unfortunately), called Watch Set #3 by Rubbernecker Stamps that coordinates perfectly with the background paper!! I stamped and fussy cut one of the watches out and then added Crystal Effects to mimic the glass in the watch face.

SKP Watermarked Photos4-041I die cut my sentiment out of black card stock three times and adhered the layers together to give it depth, but it still needed more to pop from all of that busy paper so I added Crystal Effects to it too.

Isn’t it a fun die cut? I love all the coordinating sayings to pair with it. It’s Wet Paint by Papertrey Ink. I purchased it a long time ago, but didn’t realize that it had dies, and then the die set was sold out for forever, but I finally got it!! Yay!

I’m not much on patience so after applying all the Crystal Effects I forced myself to LEAVE the house and run an errand, just to make certain I left it alone long enough to set up! lol

SKP Watermarked Photos4-042I need to give thanks to the design team over at the Fusion Card Challenge for the awesome sketch inspiration:

And a quick shot of the inside of the card:

Special Birthday Greetings – SSSC269

Special Birthday Greeting_1Today’s post is a very special card for a very special birthday. May is a birthday month in my family! There are FOUR and first up in order (after mine) is my niece’s birthday. I had to wait to share because I wanted her to see it first.

SKP Watermarked Photos4-002I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch this week as my jumping off point. I knew immediately which stamp to use, Birthday Greetings by MFT Stamps, and then chose fun and fresh birthday colors from my paper stash. I love going shopping in my paper stash! I’ll have to share my 6 x 6 paper storage in a future post, it really is going shopping! I digress…here is the sketch I worked from

SSSC269and as you can see I followed it exactly. Such a FUN sketch this week!!! Perfect for a crisp and clean birthday card!

SKP Watermarked Photos4-003I had lots of fun choosing the pattern papers and the ink colors for my sentiment. Hats off (again) to my MISTI for making stamping in multiple colors and repeat stamping possible. I was able to stamp each color twice (perfectly) which allows for rich vibrant color. LOVE it!

And, as you can see, I had tons of fun with my MFT Stamps pierced dies! Both with the rectangles and the flags! I did alter the size of the rectangle for the sentiment. I die cut the rectangle which a a little too long, trimmed one side to the proper length and then carefully laid the piece back into the die with the unpierced edge against the edge of the die and ran it through the Big Shot again. I was careful to only run the one edge through, adding the piercings in the right spot without making more where there shouldn’t be! I hope that makes sense.

But I couldn’t stop there as this is a special card for a very special person! I can’t believe she’s 20 years old!!

SKP Watermarked Photos4-004I had to add a spot for the gift card, and of course decorate it, as well as decorating the spot to add my personal message. I had SO much fun making this! I even decorated the envelope but this post is long enough already! I will leave you with a close up of the gift card pocket…

SKP Watermarked Photos4-005So much fun! Happy Birthday darling Leia!!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

I Love You More – Paper Players #244

pp244Good Morning and Happy Mother’s Day to all of you! We’re back with another fun challenge for you today from The Paper Players, this time it is a delightful color challenge from LeAnne! I loved the color combination right away but did not have an immediate vision for a project. After a bit of fussing, here’s what I came up with:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-087I purchased this stamp set, Sunburst by Clearly Besotted Stamps, the minute it became available because I knew I HAD to have it…and it’s taken me two months to get it inky! But that’s okay, I sure did have an enjoyable time working with it! There will be many more cards to come with this stamp set, there are so many different stamp choices that the design potential seems endless!!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-088The colors are so yummy, I just want to eat them up!! I knew I wanted to use a banner with a sentiment and I found JUST the right one in the I Love You More stamp set by MFT Stamps. I love that the rays around the sun are mimicked in the patterns of the sunburst stamps…it’s like they were meant to be used together! The Pierced Fishtail Flags by MFT Stamps make quick work of adding the main banner as well as a delightful accent banner. Isn’t the piercing adorable??

SKP Watermarked Photos3-089It’s hard to see the paper piercing on the vellum but it’s there and adds a delightful texture. A simple bow with linen thread adds just another bit of texture.

This is one of TWO posts today…and I have exciting news to share so please stay tuned for post #2!

Also, I hope you have a minute to see the projects from the other design team members and that you might leave them a little love!
