A Merry Little Christmas

Greetings! Today’s card was inspired by this awesome inspiration board over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog:

icy-moodboard-sss

The challenge is winter and I’m a bit low on snowflake and snowman stamps (I live in Southern California) so I decided to use Christmas as my winter theme.

I pulled out my Rustic Wreath stamp set again and used it this time without the die. I also pulled out my one petal stamp from the stamp set Pretty Petals by Clearly Besotted Stamps…it is SO useful! I inked the wreath base up in Sahara Sand ink and the petals in River Rock (retired) and Soft Sky. I am so very pleased with how it turned out!

I used a small piece of wood themed pattern paper to incorporate that element from the inspiration photos. Also, a bit of twine reinforces that rustic vibe. I actually took two different twines and wrapped them together, just for added rustic-ness (is that even a word?).

It’s all layered on some blue aged pattern paper (more of the rustic element) and then popped up off the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love Stampin’ Dimensionals!

And though you can’t see it, I’ve decorated the whole wreath with Wink of Stella for a beautiful sparkle!

And while I was at it, I decorated the inside as well:

I sat down to create tonight and chose to join in some challenges: CAS(E) this Sketch! with their awesome sketch, a format that I L-O-V-E; and the “Less is More” Challenge to “Jingle All the Way”!

CTS_101

With those decisions out of the way, I picked out the Rustic Wreath stamp set from Papertrey Ink and just set my imagination free!

I love all things Christmas-y but decided to step out of my box a bit for this one. This stamp set doesn’t actually have a leaf stamp to fill in the leaf outlines, so I pulled out a set I recently used from Clearly Besotted as IT had a leaf petal! I stamped the single leaf petal over and over in Lost Lagoon and Pear Pizzazz. I love that the stamping is outside of the lines. I think it’s charming. I added in some dots stamped in Real Red and die cut my wreath out. So, so cool!

Once I was done I decided it needed a little something so I pulled out some linen thread and separated it into a one ply thread which I then wound through the wreath. I popped the whole thing up on VERY small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals and added my bow.

I’m so pleased with how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!!
