Pretty Poppies Healing Wishes – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #15

Good Morning! It’s Thursday and that means a new challenge from the Tic Tac Toe design team! This week’s board was designed by Rosanne Mulhern, one of my favorite clean and simple designers!

There are so many fun options to choose from that I couldn’t make a decision, so…I tried to use them all! I managed all but two – baby and embossing:

Measurements:

  • I don’t have any measurements today other than the standard card base 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″. The other layers were created using a die.

Details:

  • I loved the idea of monochromatic and yellow is one of my favorite colors I dug around in my stash until I found this bright and cheery 12″ x 12″ pattern from Echo Park. I love that the scale of the design works for both scrapbooking and card making.
  • The Mama Elephant Femme Frames die set is a staple in my stash. It creates the lovely scalloped edge on the bottom layer and a pretty stitched edge on the top layer…and best of all…no measuring! It’s done for you!

  • This stamp set, Pretty Poppies, was on the clearance rack over at MFT Stamps so I scooped it up for a steal! My Lemon Tart ink pad from PTI was a close match to the yellow in the paper and it has a matching ribbon! I had to stamp the poppies about 5 times to get the depth of color I wanted and then I applied Wink of Stella liberally. The stems and sentiment were stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. It’s a dark grey, but not quite black, for a softer feel.
  • This sweet mixed font sentiment is from the Inside & Out: Healing Touch stamp set by PTI. I set it off wish Lemon Tart satin ribbon and Lemon Meringue sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

  • Love the inside sentiment as well and isn’t the border too cute?? It’s a border stamp by Rubbernecker Stamps…a craft show discovery!

Thank you so much for taking a peek at my project for the Tic Tac Toe design team this week and please stop by to see what the rest of the design team has for you! I hope you are inspired to play along!

One for the Boys – The Paper Players 248

It’s Sunday and that means another fun challenge from The Paper Players! My stint as a guest designer is winding down, only three more after this (sniff), so I’m going to make them count!! This week’s challenge is a fun one, as well as very timely with Father’s Day just around the corner:

06:07pp248I found the BEST pack of 6×6 paper while at the Scrapbook Expo and have been itching to use it…it’s perfect for this challenge!! I may have gone overboard on all the patterns, but I couldn’t pick just one or two…

One for the Boys-The Paper Players 248Aren’t they AWESOME!!!??? And I found a stamp set I purchased YEARS ago that had never seen ink (unfortunately), called Watch Set #3 by Rubbernecker Stamps that coordinates perfectly with the background paper!! I stamped and fussy cut one of the watches out and then added Crystal Effects to mimic the glass in the watch face.

SKP Watermarked Photos4-041I die cut my sentiment out of black card stock three times and adhered the layers together to give it depth, but it still needed more to pop from all of that busy paper so I added Crystal Effects to it too.

Isn’t it a fun die cut? I love all the coordinating sayings to pair with it. It’s Wet Paint by Papertrey Ink. I purchased it a long time ago, but didn’t realize that it had dies, and then the die set was sold out for forever, but I finally got it!! Yay!

I’m not much on patience so after applying all the Crystal Effects I forced myself to LEAVE the house and run an errand, just to make certain I left it alone long enough to set up! lol

SKP Watermarked Photos4-042I need to give thanks to the design team over at the Fusion Card Challenge for the awesome sketch inspiration:

Spring Flowers – The Challenge #29

SKP Watermarked Photos3-051

Good Morning and Happy Hump Day to you!! Midway through the week, I hope yours is going well!! I’m a happy camper because I was able to stamp again last night. Woohoo!

Last week I promised another card using Rubbernecker Stamps and a technique that the owner/designer demonstrated for easy stamp alignment and the sketch this week over at The Challenge provided the perfect backdrop for my stamp!

New Banner-002

The stamp I chose for today’ project is the Layered Flower 2 stamp by Rubbernecker Stamps. It’s a three step stamp, and here’s how the owner demonstrated lining all three stamps up without the use of any extra tools:

Here’s what the stamp set looks like straight out of the package:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-046

The image on the packaging is a life size image of the stamp, so take the flower stamp with the larger petals and place it over the flower image on the packaging, like so:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-047

Then take your clear block and place it over the stamp, being careful to line the right and bottom edges up with the packaging, like so:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-048

Then, layout the panel you want to stamp on:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-049

Then, ink your stamp up with the lighter petal ink and stamp on your panel, being careful to once again line the clear block up with the right and bottom edges of your panel. Repeat this process with the smaller flower stamp and then finally with the outline stamp, and you will wind up with a wonderfully aligned image!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-050

And as I was reminded, the image is designed to NOT be perfect so don’t stress over it too much!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-053

I had a bit of fun with this stamp and some new papers. I wanted the flowers to really pop so I stamped the lighter image in Melon Berry ink by PTI and then the darker image in Calypso Coral ink by Stampin’ Up!. I used a fun sentiment in a new to me set called Sentiment Sampler by Paper Smooches. I think the sweet font of the sentiment goes well with the sweet paper.

SKP Watermarked Photos3-054

I received happy mail yesterday from Winnie & Walter and was so surprised when I found the stamps wrapped up with twine, a nice note, and a little bag of free sequins…how sweet is that! I posted a picture of it over on my Instagram account if you would like to see it. Even sweeter was the fact that some of the sequins were the perfect blue to add a bit of pizzazz to my card!

A generous coating of Wink of Stella was applied to the Calypso Coral part of the flowers as well as to the sentiment, they shimmer so prettily in person!

I thought the sentiment tag needed a little something so I fussed a bit with that, deciding finally on a tiny punched flower and a little bow tied with twine. Please let me know what you think, the jury’s still out on whether or not to leave the extra bits:)

In addition to playing along with The Challenge, I am also playing along with Just Us Girls, their challenge this week is Spring, as well as the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge which is Spring Flowers:

3 Flowers – The Paper Players #238

It’s Sunday, and that means another challenge from The Paper Players! Let’s get right to it!!

pp238Eek! I L-O-V-E the Tic-Tac-Toe challenges!! So many FUN possibilities!! I can hardly wait to see your creations this week!! I vacilated a bit over the challenge, with so many options, it’s HARD to choose! In the end, my natural tendencies won out and I went with the combination of yellow, die-cut, and flowers:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-028 I went back to my roots with this one, super clean and simple, but with a powerful punch of YELLOW!! Yellow, Yellow, Yellow! I can’t think of anything happier!

I spent two days last week at the Scrapbook Expo in Anaheim, CA. I’m close enough that I drove back and forth each day. I don’t usually take classes, I just shop, but this time I took three classes over the two days and took my time shopping and interacting with the vendors. One of my stops was Rubbernecker Stamps. Jen Mitchell had posted a card using their Poppy Field stamp awhile ago and she inspired me to go online and purchase the stamp set myself (I haven’t used the stamp yet, of course).

Anyway, I was tickled to see them at the expo. The owner/designer was demonstrating a line of stamps that he has, the poppy included, that are geared toward easily creating a watercolor effect. He was telling the ladies that the stamp is designed to not be perfect, every card would be unique and a bit random. I told him that I don’t do random well and he said that his stamps probably wouldn’t work for me. So I had to prove him wrong. I now own four of his “random” stamp sets. LOL. Isn’t that like biting off your nose to spite your face?? I’ve now proven that I CAN do random, I just have to do it very carefully. hahahahahahahaha

SKP Watermarked Photos3-030There are three stamps used to created the final image. The owner/designer demonstrated a technique for getting the stamping reasonably close without the use of any other tools. I tried it and it works! So I will be using one of the other stamps very soon, and I will take pictures as I go to demonstrate how easy it is to line everything up.

For this card, I started with the larger, lighter flower stamp, and stamped it in Daffodil Delight. I used Crushed Curry for the smaller inside of the flower and then heat embossed the flower outline and leaves with black embossing powder. I found a sentiment that suited the flower in the Blissful Butterflies stamp set by MFT Stamps and heat embossed that as well.

SKP Watermarked Photos3-031Three randomly (not so randomly) placed sequins are the perfect jewelry for this card, providing visual interest while still letting the beautiful image take center stage.

And that’s it!! Won’t you please let me know what you think? And won’t you also please take a minute to see what the other designers have created for you this week? I sneaked a peek and there is some awesome stuff to see!!
