Happy Birthday to a Classic

Stampin-Up-Guy-Greetings-Masculine-Birthday-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

Details:

  • Guy Greetings is the star of this card! What a fantastic combination of fonts and images! Stamped here in Early Espresso they are the essence of cool and sophisticated. I used my MISTI to align the images and then used my Stampin’ Trimmer to trim the card stock down. I provided the dimensions for you, but really I just eye balled it to whatever looked good.
  • Coffee Break Designer Series paper isn’t just for coffee! The colors and clean lines lend themselves perfectly to any number of masculine themed cards! And you know I love to line my envelopes…isn’t the striped pattern of the envelope liner the perfect compliment to the card? Love it!
  • The combination of whites in the sentiment panel, the background of the designer series paper and then the card base keep the design of the card light and fresh.
  • I reached for my enamel shapes to tuck a few in the upper left hand corner, but alas, they are not available in the neutral palette, so I reached instead into my retired stash and pulled out some Early Espresso Candy Dots…love those things! They are the perfect accent! (I realize I’ve been saying that for about fours years now, but when it’s true, it’s true!)

  • I finished the inside off with coordinating card stock and a sentiment from the recently retired Balloon Adventures stamp set. It’s timeless!

This color combination is perfect for guy cards and one that I’ll go back to and use again!

Today’s card was inspired by THREE challenges! CAS(E) this Sketch provided the layout and The Paper Players and Stamp, Ink, Paper provided themes! I can’t usually juggle that many but for some reason I managed all three with one clean and layered card!

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend doing whatever brings you joy!!

When Things Don’t Go Quite As Expected – The Paper Players 345

Clean and Simple – Butterflies is Nance’s theme this week over at The Paper Players. It seems simple enough. And clear. You can’t miss the “Clean and Simple” part. So how did I end up making THIS card??

Stampin-Up-Delightful-Daisy-Bold-Butterfly-Birthday-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

What can I say, Nance?? (Insert sheepish grin) I guess I have a problem with directions?? lol. I think I just focused on the word “butterflies” and everything else went to the back burner. I’m not quite sure I could get much further away from the “clean and simple” concept! But I adore how the card turned out and thought it pretty funny, I hope you folks don’t throw me out 🙂

Dimensions:

  • Tonight of Navy card base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Calypso Coral card stock cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper cut to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″

Details:

  • This floral pattern is my absolute FAVORITE pattern in the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper. Again, the coordination of products does my work for me. The Night of Navy pattern in the small die cut butterfly pops against the Calypso Coral design of the larger die cut butterfly and both pull the colors out of the floral pattern paper magnificently.
  • I added a simple vellum die cut circle behind the butterfly to give the busy patterns of the butterfly some separation from the busy pattern below.
  • And then I couldn’t help myself and pulled out Gold Metallic Thread to add some more ‘pop’ to my card. I have struggled with using this fine metallic thread but came up with a trick this time that I am passing on to you to use or not. I turned the large die cut butterfly over and adhered two small glue dots to the back of the wings, one one each side, where they wouldn’t be seen from the front. Next, I wrapped the thread around my four fingers several times, four to six times, and then snipped the end. Finally, I carefully pulled my looped thread off my hand and, holding on to the loops from the two sides of my “circle”, I laid the grouping of thread across each of the glue dots, pushing in to make sure they held. Once they were secure, I added another glue dot on top to secure them more firmly. I used my Piercing Tool to separate the loops and make them look random.
  • I used one gold faceted Gem in the center of the butterfly to coordinate with my gold thread. Just lovely, I think!

  • I love the soft romantic feel of the font in the happy birthday sentiment. Just perfect for this card. Banners and layers are a simple way to dress up a sentiment!

  • I’m fairly sure I’ve used these exact two stamps on the inside of another card, but that’s okay. When it works, it works! I love how the coral and navy colors play off of each other!

So there you have it! My (not) “Clean and Simple” card!! I feel so bad that I missed that part of the challenge, but adore the card anyway 🙂

Have a great rest of your week!

A Sweet Goodbye to Penned & Painted – The Paper Players 342

A Sweet Goodbye to Penned & Painted Card Ideas - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

I had a bit of time to create this weekend…this is the first of a few cards I’m looking forward to sharing with you!

This card was created with someone special in mind and I’m looking forward to popping it in the mail to her! I hope it brightens her day!

Details:

  • Thick Whisper White card base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper cut to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Old Olive card stock cut to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • Sweet Sugarplum card stock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Whisper White card stock card stock cut to 3 5/8″ x 4 4/8″

  • Penned and Painted (which will be retiring May 31st) is a 3-step stamp set, perfect for building detailed images! I started with the outline stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The sweet pink of the filler images is Sweet Sugarplum, stamped off once. The last image is the detail image, also stamped in Sweet Sugarplum but at full strength this time. So pretty!
  • The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and perfectly coordinate with this yummy new Mini Chevron Ribbon which is available in the new catalog! I came in with a close up so you could see the chevron detail…and it ties like a dream!
  • A few layers of color and some Stampin’ Dimensionals help the focal image really pop off of the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper. This gingham pattern is far and away my favorite!! It was hard, but I managed to turn the gingham pattern over to show off the pretty paper on the reverse side, which I used to decorate my envelope flap!

  • This sweet sentiment is a favorite of mine from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit…and will be retiring on May 31st so make sure to add it to your collection before it is gone forever!
  • A visual triangle of Rhinestone Basic Jewels is the perfect finish touch!

A huge thank you to The Paper Players design team for inspiring this card with their tic-tac-toe challenge (I LOVE these challenges!) I went across the bottom with Pink, Leaf/Leaves and Flower:

With Sympathy Sympathy Card Ideas - Shannon Jaramillo Lil Inkers

Hello my friends! I had fun getting inky this weekend with a new challenge! I had an idea for a card in my head but when I was flipping through stamp sets I came across this never-been-inked set from Lil ‘Inkers and changed direction completely! I love when that happens!

The Details:

  • White card base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Enchanted Evening card stock card stock cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • Pattern Paper cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • White card stock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″

With Sympathy Sympathy Cards Idea - Shannon Jaramillo Lil InkersIt was super fun to play with all of the “inky” blooms in this set, throwing another one here or there while staying within the guidelines of the sketch. I used Spring Rain for the flowers and Soft Stone for the three random dots stamp that I used on yesterday’s card as well. I’m on a bit of a tear to “bash my stash” so I found three darling itty bitty buttons and attached them with glue dots.

And the inside. I forgot AGAIN to snap a photo of the stamping I did to the front of the envelope as well (insert mad face). Oh well, next time!

Today’s card was inspired by the Paper Players sketch…thanks Leanne, it’s a sketch with LOTS of possibilities!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Whimsical Birthday Wishes – The Paper Players 332

Whimsical Birthday Wishes Birthday Card Idea - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

Every once in awhile a product comes along that just makes you melt. This pattern paper is it for me. It’s called Cupcakes and Carousels by Stampin’ Up! and is new in the Occasions Catalog. It comes in the perfectly porportioned 6″ x 6″ size and has the most delightful patterns in it!

The Details:

  • So Saffron card base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Early Expresso card stock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack cut to 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
  • Early Expresso card stock cut to 2 1/2″ x 4″
  • Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack cut to 2 3/8″ x 3 7/8″

  • This playful sentiment from the Better Together Stamp Set pairs perfectly with the playful pattern paper. It’s stamped in Bermuda Bay and die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (first time using them, can’t live without them), and then layered onto a lovely scalloped oval die cut from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies. I wasn’t sure they would pair together since they are from different die sets, but of course they do, because Stampin’ Up! takes care of us like that 🙂

  • The darling party hat was stamped in Early Expresso ink, fussy cut out, and colored in with my So Saffron Stampin’ Marker. I thought about coloring the polka dots in Bermuda Bay but chickened out because I wasn’t sure I would like it and added Wink of Stella instead. Perfect choice! Love it!

  • I used Early Expresso Baker’s Twine (which is retired BTW) to make a cheerful double bow and added So Saffron Enamel Dots as the final accent. I LOVE that they are available in all the colors!
  • Each layer that you see backed by Early Expresso card stock is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love layers and the depth they provide. Hint: I snip my Stampin’ Dimensionals in half so they go twice as far…I may or may not be a Dimensionals hoarder 🙂

  • And the inside! This sentiment is from the Balloon Adventures Stamp Set, also from the 2017 Occasions Catalog and is a favorite of mine. It’s so fun here stamped in Bermuda Bay onto Very Vanilla yardstick and backed by Early Expresso card stock. Love, love, love this color combination. My mom insists blue and brown do not go together, so funny enough, they are one of my favorite combinations! lol

Today’s card was inspired completely by my desire to use the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Stack and this week’s challenge over at The Paper Players:
