Feeling Puny – The Paper Players 375

Clearly Besotted-Feeling-Sheepish-Love-and-Friendship-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo

Hello my stamping friends! Isn’t this little ewe absolutely darling? Oh my gosh, I want to eat him up!

I woke up this morning and checked the latest Paper Players challenge and saw that it was a theme this week…a ‘puny’ Valentine. I immediately thought ‘no way’ because ‘cutesy’ type cards are a bit out of my element, and then I thought “wait a minute, don’t give up so easily. It IS a challenge, after all!” So I pulled on my big girl panties and started going through my stamps. Lo and behold, I found the PERFECT stamp almost immediately!

Measurements:

  • Card Base 4 1/2″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • White Layer 3 3/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • Flowered Layer 3 3/8″ x 2 1/4″
  • Dark Strip 3 3/8″ x 5/8″
  • Pink Strip 3 3/8″ x 1/2″

Details:

  • I’m slowly stepping out of my comfort zone and playing with coloring. Large areas still scare me to death but I thought I could manage this little ewe from Clearly Besotted’s Feeling Sheepish stamp set. Unfortunately this set is retired but it’s been replaced with a set called ‘Ewe Are Awesome’ that features the same darling sheep and grasses.
  • I stamped the ewe onto a post it note and trimmed him out so I could place him on my card where I wanted him to go, and then stamped the grassy image twice, once on each side of the ewe. I then pulled the mask off and stamped the ewe where the mask had been.

  • The ewe’s feet caused me to have to think carefully as they hung down into my pattern paper area. I eventually figured out to stamp the feet onto the pattern paper, cut them out, and then stamp the feet onto a scrap of white cardstock, cut THEM out and then place them into the empty spaces in the pattern paper. Sheesh!
  • I colored this darling little guy with my ShinHan Touch Twin Markers in shades that I thought would compliment the super sweet pattern paper.
  • And the sentiment?1? Puny as can be!!
  • I finished the card off with coordinating hand trimmed banners, button, and a sweet bow. Love that little finishing touch!

What do you think? I think he’s a keeper, just like my hubby 🙂

Lovebirds – The Paper Players #230

Good morning and welcome to another fun-filled challenge from The Paper Players this week!

pp230

Many of us have furry friends, or feathery friends, let’s make a valentine for them!

I have a confession to make. After a detailed search of ALL of my stamp collection…I have only three stamps of furry friends: Nothing, Nada, and Ziltch. Yep. It’s true. (Hangs head in shame) Apparently I will need to rectify this situation. But it got me to thinking that some people many not have furry friends, they may have feathery friends, or scaly friends, or slithery friends (eek). So, I decided to go with birds!

SKP Watermarked Photos2-037I don’t currently have any birds, but we did while I was growing up! And what better bird to feature as we get ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day than a love bird!

This bird might or might not have been in a bird cage, alas, the bird cage stamp has flown the coop! Ha! Seriously though, it’s a clear stamp and I cannot find it anywhere! I’m guessing it has adhered itself to the bottom of something but it is definitely missing in action and I had a card to finish!!

So instead of a bird cage, I used my new staggered hearts stencil from Simon Says Stamp and lightly stenciled hearts across my background. I stenciled them in Sweet Blush ink by Papertrey Ink to match the pattern paper, also from Papertrey Ink. I really like the contrast of the black and the pink so I added a layer of black to add some more pop.

SKP Watermarked Photos2-039Though you cannot see it in the picture, my little lovebird has been given a generous coating of Wink of Stella so he really sparkles! I also added Wink of Stella to a few of the stenciled hearts to add a bit more detail.

SKP Watermarked Photos2-040Isn’t the font on the sentiment darling?? Clearly Besotted Stamps has such a beautiful array of fonts on their sentiments, making them a joy to work with.

And while I may not have stamps of furry friends, I do indeed have a few furry friends. I would like to introduce Buster (orange and white in the back) and Buddy (all orange in the front):

SKP Watermarked Photos2-041Both of my babies were rescues. Buster wandered into my backyard as an eight week old kitten and Buddy was about the same age when I found him at my local bank ATM. Poor guys had both been dumped. Little Buddy was only 1.1 pounds when I rescued him, he’s sure a LOT more than that now!! lol

So I hope you have fun with this challenge, make sure to pop over to The Paper Players blog and see what adorable creations the other designers have for you this week! And I can’t wait to see YOUR creations!! Happy Stamping!!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

Je t’aime – Freshly Made Sketches #170

SKP Watermarked Photos2-015I cannot explain the allure that Paris and Le Tour Eiffel hold for me, but they do. So when the newest release from Clearly Besotted included a stamp set with it, it immediately went to the top of my ‘must have’ list!! This is a beautiful rendition of the Tower, including an adorable heart right smack in the middle of it…perhaps they should modify to real Tower to include the heart, it’s pretty darn cute!!

SKP Watermarked Photos2-018I truly do not know where this vintage-y style is coming from…but I love it!! I, of course, went through my paper bin and found these delightful papers that just scream Paris to me, and then I built the card around them! I wanted something for the Tower to sit on…I didn’t want it floating on the page, so I pulled out this adorable pierced tag set from My Favorite Things. I dye cut two tags, in different patterns, and got a bit inky with my Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

SKP Watermarked Photos2-021In fact, every layer ended up being distressed, it took the ‘newness’ out of the papers. Can you see the pretty pattern in the top tag? I trimmed it specifically to include those swirls, no need to add any more stamping to it! And the fiber…isn’t it amazing? It’s part of my collection that I have had for-ever! It feels so good to use some of my pretty supplies!

And with all this gong on on the outside, there was no way I could leave the inside blank so…

SKP Watermarked Photos2-020Voila! Another pretty pattern paper and a lovely swirl stamp from a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Elements of Style. I inked it up in the Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then stamped off before stamping on my card. Love!

The sketch for today’s project is courtesy of Freshly Made Sketches…such a fun sketch this week!

January Pals Blog Hop – Hello Occasions!

untitled

Welcome to the first Pals Blog Hop of 2015. We hope your new year is off to a great creative start. To celebrate the start of a new Stampin’ Up! year, we are showcasing products from our newest catalog this month – the Occasions catalog. You may also see new Sale-a-bration products too. If you don’t know how to earn free Sale-a-bration products – contact your Stampin’ Up! demonstrator to learn more.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Lynn Kolcun at Stamping with Avery’s Owlery.

Use the full lineup below to move along from blog to blog so you see all of the new projects.

I wanted to start a new tradition and create some simple seasonal decor for my office at work so I pulled out a frame I had picked up at IKEA some months ago and started stamping:

What do you think?!? Today’s project features the new stamp set Sheltering Tree from Stampin’ Up!. It’s a fantastic set with lots of different elements that can be added to the tree for different occasions.

I wanted something Valentine-y so I chose a background of Blushing Bride cardstock. I stamped the tree in Crumb Cake and then stamped all the other images with Versamark. I then heat embossed all the different elements (separately) with white embossing powder and finished it all off with a pop of Real Red.

The frame is so clean and simple that I decided not to add any more elements. I love the soft effect!

I’m keeping it short and sweet today because I know you lots more blogs to hop off to…

The next stop is Liz Gautreaux at Kind Deeds Stampin on the Pals Blog Hop!

Thanks for visiting and I’ll see you next month.

Wishing you joy and blessings!

Crazy in Love – CAS(E) this Sketch & Fusion Card Challenges

Woo Hoo! Happy Monday to you, my friends!! It rained all day yesterday but that was a great excuse to stay home, play with paper and watch football!! My favorite team lost (sniff) but my second favorite team won, and so it continues next weekend!

While watching football I was also looking for challenges to participate in and found two…CAS(E) this Sketch and Fusion Card Challenge.

CTS_105 First Birthday

I decided to go with the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and then was inspired to incorporate pink into my card by the picture from Fusion. Then, still watching football, I skimmed through my 6×6 paper storage for pink paper and pulled out some stamps to ponder as well.

Finally, the creative juices were flowing and I abandoned football (sorry Payton) and got busy creating!!

Watermarked Blog Posts_2-051

What do you think?!? I fell in love with this paper! I tried adding a cardstock layer to it, but it didn’t seem to need any other color at all. I got completely lucky and found ink that matched the paper perfectly!! And the MISTI made stamping my eye chart a breeze…

Watermarked Blog Posts_2-052

Isn’t this stamp just too fun?? It’s called (strangely enough) Eye Charts and is by My Favorite Things.

I needed an embellishment to meet the requirements of the sketch and kept trying to add a cute little die cut of glasses, but it just wasn’t working for me. So instead of focusing on the eye chart, I focused on the sentiment and found this adorable matching heart and die set in the Locking Hearts Stamp & Die Set from Simon Says Stamp. They are perfect!! And too cute too…

Watermarked Blog Posts_2-053

I kept the inside simple with these hearts from the Countless Sayings II Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!. The set is retired but has some beautiful heart stamps in it!

And just because I’m sure you want to see it again…

Watermarked Blog Posts_2-056

Yep, I love it. How about you??

Thank you so much for stopping by, I know it takes a minute to leave a comment but if you have a minute, I would really love to hear from you!! Thanks bunches!!
