Feeling Puny – The Paper Players 375

Hello my stamping friends! Isn’t this little ewe absolutely darling? Oh my gosh, I want to eat him up!

I woke up this morning and checked the latest Paper Players challenge and saw that it was a theme this week…a ‘puny’ Valentine. I immediately thought ‘no way’ because ‘cutesy’ type cards are a bit out of my element, and then I thought “wait a minute, don’t give up so easily. It IS a challenge, after all!” So I pulled on my big girl panties and started going through my stamps. Lo and behold, I found the PERFECT stamp almost immediately!

Measurements:

  • Card Base 4 1/2″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • White Layer 3 3/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • Flowered Layer 3 3/8″ x 2 1/4″
  • Dark Strip 3 3/8″ x 5/8″
  • Pink Strip 3 3/8″ x 1/2″

Details:

  • I’m slowly stepping out of my comfort zone and playing with coloring. Large areas still scare me to death but I thought I could manage this little ewe from Clearly Besotted’s Feeling Sheepish stamp set. Unfortunately this set is retired but it’s been replaced with a set called ‘Ewe Are Awesome’ that features the same darling sheep and grasses.
  • I stamped the ewe onto a post it note and trimmed him out so I could place him on my card where I wanted him to go, and then stamped the grassy image twice, once on each side of the ewe. I then pulled the mask off and stamped the ewe where the mask had been.

  • The ewe’s feet caused me to have to think carefully as they hung down into my pattern paper area. I eventually figured out to stamp the feet onto the pattern paper, cut them out, and then stamp the feet onto a scrap of white cardstock, cut THEM out and then place them into the empty spaces in the pattern paper. Sheesh!
  • I colored this darling little guy with my ShinHan Touch Twin Markers in shades that I thought would compliment the super sweet pattern paper.
  • And the sentiment?1? Puny as can be!!
  • I finished the card off with coordinating hand trimmed banners, button, and a sweet bow. Love that little finishing touch!

What do you think? I think he’s a keeper, just like my hubby 🙂

Jumping Right in to 2018 with Tic Tac Toe Challenge #29

Hello friends! I’m back from a blogging hiatus and jumping right in to 2018! Well, actually a few days later than I had planned because I caught the bug that’s going around and was sick from Christmas through New Year’s 🙁 But I’m back on track and playing along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge today!

When I saw the board for this week, the top row grabbed me immediately and pretty soon this card popped into my head, complete. Does that happen to you too? I tried to add layers, borders, ribbon, SOMETHING, but nope…this card had to stay exactly as I had envisioned it in my head!

Details:

  • This is an unusually clean card for me…I rarely have just a one layer base, but hey, never say never!
  • I used the Blooming’ Heart Thinlit Die and Red Glimmer Paper for the heart…it’s SO sparkly and doesn’t need any further embellishment!
  • The ‘love’ sentiment die is from the Sunshine Wishes Dies. I didn’t ever purchase the black glimmer paper (how did I miss that?) so I improvised. I applied a layer of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to a scrap of white cardstock and then ran it through the Big Shot twice with the ‘love’ die. I then peeled the adhesive off of one of the dies and adhered it to the other die for depth. I then peeled the adhesive off the top die and dipped the whole thing into some retired Black Glitter I had from several years ago and voila! Black Glimmer Paper!

  • It actually didn’t turn out as nicely as I had hoped…if I ever try it again I will use black card stock rather than white! Live and learn 🙂
  • I did snip really skinny pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere them to the back of the ‘love’ die to give it some separation from the heart.
  • I used the Labeler Alphabet stamp set to quickly stamp out the ‘you’ and then snipped it down to size and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • The inside is just as clean and simple as the outside, the Labeler Alphabet really is fun to use once you let go of “perfect”. I have a hard time letting go, so I’m particularly pleased with myself for not corrected my slight wobble with the ‘U’! It’s the little things in life…

And THAT’S it folks! So clean and simple and a great start to a new year! Make sure you stop by and see all of the Tic Tac Toe Challenge design team’s awesome samples for you, and then play along! There are so many options this week!
