To a Sweet Friend

Watermarked Blog Posts_2-020Greetings stampers! I hope you enjoyed your New Year’s festivities! I had a quiet one and spent yesterday alternating between my card room and three college football games! lol

Today’s card was an accident. Seriously. I was putting away a piece of 12×12 pattern paper that I had used as a backdrop for a photo when another piece of pattern paper caught my eye! I pulled it out and discovered some cute brads and flower stickers and that was that.

I have recently seen a card (who knows where) that had a pattern paper at the base and a layer of white card stock over the top, cut at an angle, with a simple stamped sentiment. I loved the idea, so I took that concept and made it my own!

Watermarked Blog Posts_2-021Aren’t the papers beautiful? I’ve had them for ages so I’m not sure they are still available. They are from the Kioshi line by Basic Grey. Lucky for me, I bought the whole set at a scrapbook expo a number of years ago so I have all the coordinating cardstock, stickers, brads and flowers.

I assembled my card and then decided that it needed some definition between the two pattern papers so I pulled out some fibers I have also had for oodles of years. My boss, who happened to introduce me to paper crafting, and I purchased every package of fibers that were being sold at the time by Making Memories and split the packages. I went through at the time and wound all of the fibers onto embroidery floss cards. (And yes, I love to organize.) I was so amazed at how well they matched that I included the card of them in the main image…they look like they were made for this paper!!

I stamped my sentiment from the Sweet Little Sentiments stamp set by Clearly Besotted in Schoolhouse Red Ink by Simon Says Stamp. I’m amazed at how well it matches the flower center dots on the paper!!

I added my flower and then decided it needed a bit of help to make it pop off the pattern paper so I used some more of my fiber to make extra loops. I love how the colors change throughout the fiber!!

I also added some adorable sequins from Simon Says Stamp…the color goes with everything and adds sparkle!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I appreciate your support and your comments!!

Wishing you joy and blessings!
