Blow Out the Candles!

Blow Out the Candles Birthday Card ideas - Shannon Jaramillo The Stamps of Life

What inspires your card making? Do you search Pinterest for inspiration? Or perhaps start with a challenge? Or do you just sit down and have a card come to you? I find challenges a great place to start. And Pinterest is definitely my friend! Today’s card though was inspired by paper. I happened to be thumbing through a pad of paper and saw this birthday paper next to the green and white polka dots and it was all over. It got even better when I looked in my ribbon stash and saw I had both Kiwi AND Candy colored ribbons! Which one should I use? How about BOTH?!? Go big or go home, right?

  • I trimmed two pieces of  pattern paper to 3 3/4″ x 4 7/8″ and then ran one of them through the Big Shot with the Notebook Edge Die from The Stamps of Life.
  • I adhered the two layers together at a tilt. I love how the green and white polka dots just peek out around the edges 🙂

  • These bold and beautiful candles are stamped and die cut using the candles4birthday stamps and dies from The Stamps of Life in Candy and Kiwi inks. The colors are so bright and cheery, and the coverage from the ink is perfect…no blotchy images here!
  • The sentiment is from the same stamp set, stamped in Memento’s Tuxedo Black ink and die cut using the Stitched Oval Dies from The Stamps of Life (TSOL).
  • The pretty ribbons? Yep, from The Stamps of Life card kits.
  • Those darling little flowers used to decorate the candles? The Stamps of Life card kits. I like these little jewels, they go well on everything. I think they are meant to be used for shaker cards, but I like using them like sequins 🙂
  • And how about Banana for the candle flames? It’s the PERFECT shade! Also, in my world candle flames sparkle, so these are coated liberally in Wink of Stella!

  • I love adding detail to the inside of the card. Here I carried the pattern paper over to tie everything together nicely. I die cut white card stock using the Stitched Rectangle Dies and added a sweet sentiment from the morecandles2stamp stamp set.

Please know that I am sharing these products simply because I love them and hope that you might love them as well 🙂

Thank you for stopping by!!

Sunshine Birthday

Sunshine Birthday Card Ideas - Shannon Jaramillo Stamps of Life

This Sizzix Happy Birthday Card Drop Ins Die die is just F.U.N. I want to use it all the time! Today I played at mixing up Pixie, Candy and Grape. Just the names sound yummy, don’t they!! Ha!!

Sunshine Birthday Cards Idea - Shannon Jaramillo Stamps of Life

I started with a base in Pixie. Then I die cut the sentiment in both Powdered Sugar and Candy. I added adhesive to the front of the Candy colored sentiment when I die cut it so when I peeled the adhesive backing off, the front of the die was sticky. I used Stephanie’s white glitter to add all this delightful sparkle. Yum. Then I adhered the Candy sentiment with the Powdered Sugar sentiment, just slightly offset to give it a bit more dimension. The purple flowers and the Grape twine? They are from Card Kits. If you don’t subscribe, you might want to consider doing so. Lots of fun goodies in the kits every month!

I’m in love with the Sizzix Dotted Rectangle Dies. I think they are such a fun detail! And of course, calories DON’T count on your birthday!! (from the greetings4birthday stamp set).

And there you have it, the die does all the work…easy peasy birthday card going in the mail tomorrow!!

For A Wonderful Friend – Freshly Made Sketches 279

For A Wonderful Friend Birthday Card Ideas - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

I have noticed that my most favorite cards are created when I have the recipient in mind. And today’s card bears that theory out! When you pair a large box of brand new Stampin’ Up! goodies with a good friend’s birthday, good things happen!!

  • Thick Whisper White card base cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper Stacks cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Sweet Sugarplum card stock cut to 4 1/4″ x 3 5/8″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper Stacks cut to 4″ x 3 3/8″
  • Thick Whisper White card stock cut to 3″ x 4 1/4″
  • Old Olive card stock banner cut to 3/4″ x 5″
  • Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer Paper cut to 3/4″ x 4 3/4″

  • Coordinating products are what REALLY makes this card. And this spring Stampin’ Up! has given us some fabulous products to work with…
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper. That Sweet Sugarplum gingham pattern is to die for! And it really plays well together with the bold pattern of the succulents. And Old Olive…I would NEVER have thought to pair it with Sweet Sugarplum, but oh my goodness! They are beautiful together!
  • And then the glimmer paper. I have no words for how sparkly and wonderful this paper is. And to be honest…I have a love/hate relationship with glimmer paper in that I love to HATE it. But no more. This butterfly has converted me.

For A Wonderful Friend Birthdays Cards Idea - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

  • One more photo of the glimmer paper up close…just in case you didn’t believe me. G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. And only available as a free item with a $50 minimum purchase. And only available until March 31st or until supplies run out.
  • I used the Butterflies Thinlits Dies to create this beauty. Hint: when using glimmer paper, die cut it from the back.
  • I used very thinly snipped Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop my butterfly up. I also popped everything off of the gingham paper to make it more dimensional.
  • Dragonfly Dreams is where you will find this sentiment. So sweet and the font is so hip! Again, love it in Old Olive!

  • I couldn’t resist adding more gingham to the inside of the card as well as more of the beautiful succulent pattern to the envelope liner. Love, love love this papers!

I decided to add my own personal note to the inside for a dear friend and fellow stamper, so I know she will appreciate every detail. It’s so nice when you know how much the recipient will appreciate your card, right??

Thank you to Rita with the Freshly Made Sketches design team for giving us such a fun sketch to work with this week!

As a funny side note, I forgot to link last week’s creation up with the challenge so they never got to see my card or my thank you to Cécile for picking my card as her princess the prior week. So again, thank you Cécile!

As always, comments motivate me so I would love to hear from you! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hippo Bird Day! – CAS(E) this Sketch #221

Hippo Bird Day Birthday Card Ideas - Shannon Jaramillo shannonkaypaperie

True Story: Awhile back (during a period of time when I was not an active Stampin’ Up! demonstrator) I had the AWESOME opportunity to work at The Stamps of Life booth at a scrapbooking/stamping expo. It was SUCH a fun day chatting with fellow stampers and enabling them to take Stephanie Barnard’s designs home with them! At the beginning of the show Stephanie had taken me aside and asked me to remember if customers asked for a design she didn’t have and let her know at the end of the show. So…I made sure to tell her that there was a lady looking for a hippo stamp. She gave me a look like “Really?”, I nodded yes, that the lady’s young daughter was set on a hippo birthday party and the lady was DESPERATE to find a hippo stamp! (Parents, we’ve ALL been there, right?!?)

Fast forward six or eight months and I was so surprised and delighted to see the darling stamp sets hippo2stamp and solids4hippo and their coordinating dies come out!! Of course they had to come live with me! I am delighted and in love with how cute my little girlie hippopotamus is!!

And she painted her nails special for this card 🙂 Are you dying with me?? Cuteness overload!!

And now, forever more, just in case someone asks me if I happen to own a hippopotamus stamp set, I will be able to say “Why Yes…Yes, I DO!!”

Get it?? BIG TIME?? HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa I’m killing’ myself here!

No details today, this card is so clean and simple that they just aren’t necessary!!

I’m playing along with the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge today. Not sure what “CAS(E)” means? Hop on over to their blog to find out!!

I can’t wait to hear if you love this girlie as much as I do!!

Whimsical Birthday Wishes – The Paper Players 332

Whimsical Birthday Wishes Birthday Card Idea - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

Every once in awhile a product comes along that just makes you melt. This pattern paper is it for me. It’s called Cupcakes and Carousels by Stampin’ Up! and is new in the Occasions Catalog. It comes in the perfectly porportioned 6″ x 6″ size and has the most delightful patterns in it!

The Details:

  • So Saffron card base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Early Expresso card stock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack cut to 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
  • Early Expresso card stock cut to 2 1/2″ x 4″
  • Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack cut to 2 3/8″ x 3 7/8″

  • This playful sentiment from the Better Together Stamp Set pairs perfectly with the playful pattern paper. It’s stamped in Bermuda Bay and die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (first time using them, can’t live without them), and then layered onto a lovely scalloped oval die cut from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies. I wasn’t sure they would pair together since they are from different die sets, but of course they do, because Stampin’ Up! takes care of us like that 🙂

  • The darling party hat was stamped in Early Expresso ink, fussy cut out, and colored in with my So Saffron Stampin’ Marker. I thought about coloring the polka dots in Bermuda Bay but chickened out because I wasn’t sure I would like it and added Wink of Stella instead. Perfect choice! Love it!

  • I used Early Expresso Baker’s Twine (which is retired BTW) to make a cheerful double bow and added So Saffron Enamel Dots as the final accent. I LOVE that they are available in all the colors!
  • Each layer that you see backed by Early Expresso card stock is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love layers and the depth they provide. Hint: I snip my Stampin’ Dimensionals in half so they go twice as far…I may or may not be a Dimensionals hoarder 🙂

  • And the inside! This sentiment is from the Balloon Adventures Stamp Set, also from the 2017 Occasions Catalog and is a favorite of mine. It’s so fun here stamped in Bermuda Bay onto Very Vanilla yardstick and backed by Early Expresso card stock. Love, love, love this color combination. My mom insists blue and brown do not go together, so funny enough, they are one of my favorite combinations! lol

Today’s card was inspired completely by my desire to use the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Stack and this week’s challenge over at The Paper Players:
