More Painted Harvest Inspiration! – Freshly Made Sketches #301

Painted-Harvest-Wedding-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

I just wasn’t quite ready to put Stampin’ Up!’s new ‘Painted Harvest’ stamp set away…so I tried another soft and non-fall color combination out on a card I need for an upcoming wedding…what do you think?

Details:

  • The new Powder Pink in-color has to be my favorite pink ever and when combined with Smoky Slate…swoon!
  • I’ve had many questions about the stamping of this stamp set so I want answer them all:
    • The only color I used on the flowers was Powder Pink
    • I DID NOT do any stamping off
    • I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp each of the two flower petal stamps three time each
    • There is a notch next to the flower stamp on the stamp index that shows how to line them up
  • The magic is in the design of the stamp set itself…the depth you see is built right in! Honestly, it’s amazing.

  • If you are a free spirit, instead of stamping three (or four) times in the same spot, turning the stamp once between stamping will achieve a different look. Isn’t it wonderful to have so many options? Each artist can create their own, one of a kind design!
  • If there is just one shout out I can give to Stampin’ Up! this year, it’s fonts. They have really delivered some timeless, elegant sentiments. The two I used today (one is on the inside) are from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (another favorite of mine).
  • DSP. I have been having so much fun mixing old and new product. The Smoky Slate pattern on the card front is from the retired Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. It looks so sweet with the coordinating bow and flower centers. And it sets off the yummy Powder Pink pattern (Whole Lot of Lovely DSP Pack) on the envelope flap perfectly!

  • The 1/2″ Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon…seriously, is there anything better than gingham? Well, yes, gingham in every color. Just sayin’!
  • Love the bow? I learned from the best, fellow Pal Ann Schach. Watch her video and learn to make one too! Everyone can do it, I promise.

  • I only stamped the Powder Pink flower one time with each stamp on the card interior, and I DID stamp off for the Smoky Slate flower center as I was worried the sentiment wouldn’t show up otherwise. I’m in love with stamping a design underneath the sentiment, it’s such a pretty effect!

The layout for today’s card is courtesy of this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

…oops, I took a few liberties with my design! lol, that’s what happens sometimes!! I loved the idea of the angle and enjoyed playing along!

Blessings!

Sweet ‘Painted Harvest’ Thank You – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #11

Stampin-Up-Oh-So-Sweetly-Thank-You-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

Welcome Friends! It’s time for a new Tic Tac Toe challenge! I SO enjoy playing with this challenge – sometimes the boards are hard for me and then others come very easily. I love that and feel challenged as a card maker to stretch and grow! I hope you’ll find yourself intrigued and excited with the challenge and join us this week! Here’s the latest challenge board!

Details:

  • I was so excited to received the new ‘Painted Harvest’ stamp set in my Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog preorder and already had a rough idea for a card in my head when I looked at the challenge board and thought the first column on the board would be perfect for my idea; burlap, flower and leaf.
  • I ADORE sunflowers and this set is delightful with two layering stamps for the sunflower to create depth, one stamp for the center and another for the center dots. I’m not QUITE ready for fall though, in Southern California we don’t really have fall, it will be in the 100 temps through October so I decided to stamp them in another fun color instead!

  • I stamped first with the background stamp, stamping three times with Soft Sky ink. The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig is the perfect tool to make sure I stamp in exactly the same spot! I then stamped over it exactly with the detail image, again stamping three times in Soft Sky and using the guide provided on the stamp set to line the images up perfectly. What a help that was!!Stampin-Up-Oh-So-Sweetly-Thank-You-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup
  • The center is stamped with Crumb Cake ink and then I stamped over it in Crumb Cake again with the little detail dots stamp.
  • I used the little dots stamp again in So Saffron to add yellow detail around the flowers, stamping off for a more subtle effect.
  • Timeless Textures has the perfect little splatter stamp so I added random splatters to my card, stamping off again for a softer look.
  • This font for the thank you sentiment is the prettiest ever! This stamp can be found in the retired Thoughtful Branches stamp set…a keeper for sure!!
  • I pulled out some retired ribbon for the burlap element, snipping it into a banner and attaching it to my card front with the retired handheld stapler.

  • I rarely make one layer cards but I forgot to trim my card front down prior to doing my stamping and then was so in love with the final product that I couldn’t bring myself to cut it down, so this is a one layer card and I’m using that for the ‘free’ space on the challenge board:)
  • I added Wink of Stella to the flowers and leaves (of COURSE I did!) so they all sparkle SO prettily!
  • And did you SEE the envelope!! Oh my gosh! I couldn’t stop stamping these adorable sunflowers! Scroll up to take a peek!! SO FUN!!

I had the BEST time with this challenge board and managed to use eight of the nine boxes on this one clean and simple card!

Sneak Peek – New Count My Blessings Stamp Set

Stampin-Up-Count-My-Blessings-Love-and-Friendship-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I get a sneak peek at upcoming catalogs and this divine stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog was at the top of my wish list!

The first chance I got, I sat down to create the card that popped into my head the minute I saw this set. I adore these whimsical flowers!! I used three stamps from the set this time, the sentiment, the large stem of flowers and the itty bitty filler flower stamp set. I did a bit of masking with the little flowers so I could fill in the white spaces.Stampin-Up-Count-My-Blessings-Love-and-Friendship-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup Details:

  • I used Stampin’ Write Markers to color the flowers. Let me just say for the record, I AM NO ARTIST. I never took art class and have no idea where the shadows go. And I HATE to color outside the lines. But I pulled the markers out and colored anyway. IT WAS SO FUN!! I filled in the large flowers with my Powder Pink Stampin’ Marker. Once I had colored all the flowers, I went around and added a second layer to add shading. On the next go around, I used my Blushing Bride Stampin’ Marker to added more depth of color towards the lower part of the flowers. Again, I went around a second time for another layer of shading. I also went in and added more color at the base of each flower. I used the same process to add color to the stems. I used Lemon Lime Twist and then Pear Pizzazz for the darker shade.

  • The itty bitty flowers are as cute as can be, but after coloring in the larger images, I couldn’t decide if they should be blue or purple, so…I used BOTH colors!! The flowers are colored with Soft Sky and then a dot of Wisteria Wonder was added at the base of each flower.
  • Of course, Wink of Stella was added to ALL of the flower stamens, the pink flowers, and the stems and leaves. You can see a bit of the sparkle in my photos, but shimmer is just gorgeous in person. Whoever invented Wink of Stella, I love you!
  • The FONT. Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?!? The catalog is chock full of fresh and very trendy stamp sets! And of course the Stitched Shapes Framelits really bring the sentiment front and center.

  • I pulled out the 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon again, this time in Pear Pizzazz. It’s such a pretty accessory! I just have to share that I originally snipped the ends of the knot much longer, but when trimming I couldn’t get the two sides even and had to keep snipping!! In the end I think the darling knot is the perfect size, so as not to hide any bit of the pretty sentiment 🙂
  • I HAD to add some DSP to my envelope and found a very complimentary pattern in the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper Pack! Don’t you LOVE it when you find JUST the right thing??

I hope you’ve enjoyed this sneak peek of new products coming soon! I’m looking forward to creating so many more cards with this set!! Imagine the fall colors…….

One Stamp Wonder – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #9

Hello my stamping friends! Wow, I can’t believe it has been TWO WEEKS since my last post! I have been enjoying the last of summer with my hubby…school starts for him next week. I’m already counting the days until NEXT summer!! lol ANYWAYS…that’s not why you are here! You are here for a NEW Tic Tac Toe Challenge! Woot Woot! And without further delay…here is the newest challenge board!

I was immediately drawn to the top row of ‘thank you, sequins, and all things round’. But funny story about that last category…all things round? I tend to be quite literal so I pondered that for awhile and then I even posed that question on my FB page to get my friends to sound off on their ideas for ‘all things round’. I LOVED their suggestions and looked through every stamp set I own before finding ONE LITTLE STAMP in a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Work of Art that sealed the deal for me. Remember how I said I tend to be quite literal???  Take a look at this!!

Stampin-Up-Work-Of-Art-Thank-You-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

Ha! Can’t get much rounder than that!! TeeHee!! Okay, maybe a circle shaped card but I’m not a fan of odd shapes so that was out… Okay, on to the dets:

Details:

  • The variety of choices in Stampin’ Up!’s Work of Art stamp set gives you as an artist an infinite range of possibliliities. Unless you are me, then you will only see the obvious:) But the obvious can be fun too!

  • I used the tiny circle stamp, rotating it each time I stamped it so that the tiny clear spot in it would be more random looking. I based my color palette on the ribbon I wanted to use, the 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon in Peekaboo Peach. I added Daffodil Delight, Powder Pink and the retired Crisp Cantaloupe. And now I’m craving Sherbet ice cream!!
  • I started stamping in the bottom right hand corner and changed colors with each circle I stamped to get some consistent spacing between the dots. It wasn’t a lot of work, I just had to remember to clean the stamp each time so I didn’t stamp Peekaboo Peach into my Daffodil Delight ink pad! Yikes!

Stampin-Up-Work-Of-Art-Thank-You-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

  • I love this thank you sentiment from the One Big Meaning stamp set, it’s perfect for circle die-cutting.
  • The rest of my layers were a bit more tricky. I discovered that I didn’t have any circles in my Stampin’ Up! stash to do three graduated layers like this, I’m not sure why, but I couldn’t. So the white layer is the Stampin’ Up! Stitches Shapes Framelits, the Daffodil Delight layer uses a circle die from The Stamps of Life and the darling stitched scallop layer in Peekaboo Peach is made by MFT Stamps.
  • This Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon is a MUST for your stash. It is seriously great to work with. I truly hope they come out with it in more colors. I will buy a full roll of each color, it’s THAT amazing!

Stampin-Up-Work-Of-Art-Thank-You-Cards-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

  • When I stood back and looked at my card, I decided it needed a little bit “more” so I pulled out this super darling itty-bitty butterfly stamp and die from the most recent Catherine Pooler Stamps of Approval box. I added some Wink of Stella to it and of course a sequin!
  • My last sequin is covered up by ribbon in this photo but be assured, there are three sequins…because odd numbers always look better!
  • I layered everything on to Crisp Cantaloupe and Daffodil Delight card stock and then added circles to the envelope flap…they are so stinkin’ cute!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my interpretation of ‘thank you, sequins, and all things round’. Please pop on over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and see what the rest of the design team has for you this week! They are amazing!! We would love to see your art in the gallery!!

Pretty Posy – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #7

Welcome to a new Tic Tac Toe Challenge! Today, designer Teresa brings some fun new elements to the mix! I chose to draw inspiration from the far right column: die cut; floral; and yellow. Remember, you can chose any row or column, or on the diagonal, just as long as you choose three in a row! Here’s my card for this challenge:

Stampin-Up-Beautiful-Bouquet-Love-Friendship-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

Yup, I pulled out the Beautiful Bouquet bundle again (said in my best Forrest Gump voice), I’m just so in love with it! Floral, well, that’s obvious; Die Cut, yup, I think I have that covered as well, and yellow! My first inclination was to make the entire CARD yellow, but I’m glad I went for a more balanced option today 🙂

Details:

  • Tip for the Beautiful Bouquet Bundle: Make sure you know which stamps have matching dies and which do not! Contrary to what I believed, the floral stems stamp does NOT work with the floral stems die! I took a bit of time in preparation to create, and laid all the dies out on a piece of 4.25 x 8.5  card stock and ran it through the Big Shot. This helped me identify what stamps and dies matched up. I cut the negative in half and now have it stored with the stamp set so I will forever more be able to be sure that the stamp I want has a matching die!

  • The flowers stamped on the background are what I think of as filler, or Baby’s Breath, and are stamped in Soft Sky.
  • I stamped the pink flowers on the background after I had laid all of the dies out. I love how Powder Pink blooms peek out and add a subtle touch of softness.

Stampin-Up-Beautiful-Bouquet-Love-Friendship-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

  • The other flowers are stamped in Crushed Curry (with Chocolate Chip centers), Perfect Plum and Island Indigo. The flower stems are stamped in Always Artichoke.
  • The bow is stamped in Island Indigo to play against the small flowers and the teeny tiny (adorable) tag is stamped in Crushed Curry to play against the largest flowers.

Stampin-Up-Beautiful-Bouquet-Love-Friendship-Cards-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

  • I added Blushing Bride and Island Indigo Enamel Shapes to the flower centers and then just added Wink of Stella to the Crushed Curry flower centers.
  • I couldn’t stop there so I unwound a length of Linen Thread and used just a half thickness of thread to loop behind the flowers, peeking out to add some texture!

Stampin-Up-Beautiful-Bouquet-Love-Friendship-Cards-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

  • I left off stamping a sentiment on the inside as I know I want to write a personal message. I keep the decorations minimal, with only Crushed Curry and Perfect Plum layers to mimic what what done on the outside.
  • The envelope liner is made using a retired pattern from the Regals DSP Stack that retired with the last catalog. I think it compliments the design nicely.

So…what do you think? Are you sold on the Beautiful Bouquet bundle yet? No? Okay, I’ll keep the samples coming! 😉

Please pop over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and see what the design team has created for you this week! I hope you are tempted to play along…we would LOVE to see you in the gallery!

Hugs until next time!
