All Hallows Eve – Fusion Card Challenge

Hello and welcome to another challenge from the Fusion Card Challenge!  This week’s photo inspiration is perfectly timed…

All Hallows Eve FusionIsn’t it fun? I wish my mantel looked like that 😉 Remember, you can use the photo or sketch for your inspiration, or combine them and use both! I used the sketch and the theme of the photo, just not the same colors:

SKP Watermarked Photos5-044And I discovered something…I only have ONE stamp set that is specifically Halloween oriented…crazy, right? But it is an adorable stamp set called Happy Haunting by Papertrey Ink. The set has so many options for the facial expressions, I couldn’t pick just one! I generally don’t like a very spooky Halloween anymore, but I did throw in ONE grumpy ghost 🙂

SKP Watermarked Photos5-046The frame is from a die set called Center Style-Masculine (also by PTI). I chose it because I could layer it on top of some cute pattern paper and let it peek through. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark in and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I framed the frame (!) with another pattern paper and then popped it all off of a base of Smoky Slate. I threw in some sparkly enamel dots for a bit more fun. And speaking of fun…

SKP Watermarked Photos5-045I did enjoy creating this spooky fun interior greeting!

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post and I hope you have a chance to see what the rest of the Fusion Card Challenge design team has created for you!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

Warm Autumn Wishes – Fusion Card Challenge

Hello! I’m happy to share with you that I am now a designer for the Fusion Card Challenge! This fun challenge gives you, the artist, three different options!

Warm Autumn Wishes - Fusion Card Challenge

Let the either the photo or the sketch inspire you, or go all out and use both!

I’m an overachiever so I tried to use both 🙂 I say ‘tried’ because I didn’t manage to use both completely:

Warm Autumn Wishes - Fusion Card Challenge

I flipped the sketch and then tried to emulate the colors in the photo. I didn’t quite get that pretty soft greenish color in there, mine’s a bit darker, but overall, I am pleased!

Warm Autumn Wishes - Fusion Card Challenge I used a new-to-me technique that I ran across recently. I used a wadded up tissue to pick up ink from my ink pad and apply it to my stamp. You can see how I added a bit of a darker tone to my pumpkins, above. The tissue gives a softer look than direct ink, or using the rock-n-roll method.

Warm Autumn Wishes - Fusion Card Challenge I used this technique again on my leaf (above), I love the look I achieved and hope that with practice I can get even better results. I would love to know if you try this technique and whether or not you are pleased with it!

The wonderful Fusion Card Challenge design team has created some fabulous cards to inspire you this week, so be sure to stop by and check them out! Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

One for the Boys – The Paper Players 248

It’s Sunday and that means another fun challenge from The Paper Players! My stint as a guest designer is winding down, only three more after this (sniff), so I’m going to make them count!! This week’s challenge is a fun one, as well as very timely with Father’s Day just around the corner:

06:07pp248I found the BEST pack of 6×6 paper while at the Scrapbook Expo and have been itching to use it…it’s perfect for this challenge!! I may have gone overboard on all the patterns, but I couldn’t pick just one or two…

One for the Boys-The Paper Players 248Aren’t they AWESOME!!!??? And I found a stamp set I purchased YEARS ago that had never seen ink (unfortunately), called Watch Set #3 by Rubbernecker Stamps that coordinates perfectly with the background paper!! I stamped and fussy cut one of the watches out and then added Crystal Effects to mimic the glass in the watch face.

SKP Watermarked Photos4-041I die cut my sentiment out of black card stock three times and adhered the layers together to give it depth, but it still needed more to pop from all of that busy paper so I added Crystal Effects to it too.

Isn’t it a fun die cut? I love all the coordinating sayings to pair with it. It’s Wet Paint by Papertrey Ink. I purchased it a long time ago, but didn’t realize that it had dies, and then the die set was sold out for forever, but I finally got it!! Yay!

I’m not much on patience so after applying all the Crystal Effects I forced myself to LEAVE the house and run an errand, just to make certain I left it alone long enough to set up! lol

SKP Watermarked Photos4-042I need to give thanks to the design team over at the Fusion Card Challenge for the awesome sketch inspiration:

Crazy in Love – CAS(E) this Sketch & Fusion Card Challenges

Woo Hoo! Happy Monday to you, my friends!! It rained all day yesterday but that was a great excuse to stay home, play with paper and watch football!! My favorite team lost (sniff) but my second favorite team won, and so it continues next weekend!

While watching football I was also looking for challenges to participate in and found two…CAS(E) this Sketch and Fusion Card Challenge.

CTS_105 First Birthday

I decided to go with the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and then was inspired to incorporate pink into my card by the picture from Fusion. Then, still watching football, I skimmed through my 6×6 paper storage for pink paper and pulled out some stamps to ponder as well.

Finally, the creative juices were flowing and I abandoned football (sorry Payton) and got busy creating!!

What do you think?!? I fell in love with this paper! I tried adding a cardstock layer to it, but it didn’t seem to need any other color at all. I got completely lucky and found ink that matched the paper perfectly!! And the MISTI made stamping my eye chart a breeze…

Isn’t this stamp just too fun?? It’s called (strangely enough) Eye Charts and is by My Favorite Things.

I needed an embellishment to meet the requirements of the sketch and kept trying to add a cute little die cut of glasses, but it just wasn’t working for me. So instead of focusing on the eye chart, I focused on the sentiment and found this adorable matching heart and die set in the Locking Hearts Stamp & Die Set from Simon Says Stamp. They are perfect!! And too cute too…

I kept the inside simple with these hearts from the Countless Sayings II Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!. The set is retired but has some beautiful heart stamps in it!

And just because I’m sure you want to see it again…
