Congratulations to all who participated in last week’s Spring Theme challenge…so many beautiful cards!! Y’all rocked the challenge ๐ This week Ann Marie has a bright and spring-y color challenge for you!
Was I right? Bright and Spring-y! This color combination screamed ‘flowers’ to me so I went with my gut:
Gerbera Daisies. Nothing in the world is as cheerful as a daisy (in my opinion, of course). They are my favorite flower and never fail to make me smile. It was just coincidental that my new Gerbera Daisy Dies from My Favorite Things had just come in the mail…perfect timing, I would say!! But do Gerbera daisies come in this week’s challenge colors??? I turned to Google for the answer and it did not disappoint. May I present my direct inspiration for today’s card:
In looking at the picture again, I probably should have added a ruff of small petals in Crisp Cantaloupe as well, oh well, next time!! I’m still thrilled with how easy the flower was to create and how beautiful it is!!
I wanted the flower to pop so I chose Crumb Cake for the background and inked up my Moroccan Background Stamp from Simon Says Stamp in Versamark Ink. I didn’t emboss at all, just gave the ink a chance to set up before working with it. I love the neutral backdrop it provides the daisy. I die cut a leafy accent from the Leafy Accents Die by Clearly Besotted Stamps and then trimmed the leaves to fit my flower. I thought everything was a bit too plain so I inked up all the edges in coordinating ink. I love the subtle texture it provides! I also used retired Stampin’ Up! Co-ordinations cardstock to add even more texture. I LOVE textured cardstock!! (and the co-ordinations cardstock is still on the clearance rack if you want to add some to your stash for a great price!)
I wrapped it all up (literally!) with lots of loopy linen thread. Yum. And I resisted the temptation to glitter it all up with Wink of Stella…I decided I like this country, rustic-y look! A simple sentiment stamped in Tuxedo Black and a fun rustic-y pattern paper to line the envelope finishes it all off.
I hope you like my spring-y card and that spring is around the corner wherever you are!! For me, this week will zoom up in to the mid to high 80’s!! It’s early for us, even here, but I’m ready with my freshly manicured toes and I’m pulling out the flip-flops!!

Gerberras… my absolute favorite flower!
You made a beautiful card showcasing this flower to it’s best!
Love this!
Thank you Hannelie, they are my favorite too!!
Your daisy is gorgeous as is your card. I like the way you did the subtle background to showcase your daisy and the loopy thread.
Thank you, JoAnn! I’m really loving that loopy thread these days!! lol
Your pretty flower looks like you just picked it and it pops off the neutral background. Perfect details, Pal! Love it!!
Thank you Debbie!
Gerbera daisies make me smile, too! Perfect for the Winter blahs in that pretty cantaloupe.
Thank you Kathy! I think I may need to go get some from the store to cheer up my house!!
Shannon, I LOVE this card! The gerbera daisy is gorgeous! It is perfect on your inked up Moroccan background! The rustic feel of this card makes me smile! XX
I LOVE this too, Shannon! The daisy is just amazing..so pretty!
I agree, nothin’ better than a daisy! Especially one as pretty as this one in Crisp Cantaloupe. I love how it pops off the graphic and rustic background. Great use of the colors and I’m lovin’ all that loopy twine!!
Wow, this is a gorgeous die! Your daisy is beautiful and looks so good in these colors. Fabulous card!
Beautiful, Shannon! I love the mosaic background. The daisy just jumps right off the page!
I love Gerbera daisies too, Shannon, and your die cut one is stunning! Does the die emboss too? I see a little texture going on there! Love the mosaic background, also. A stunning card.
Sandy, unfortunately the die does not emboss ๐ The texture you see is from Co-ordinations’s card stock…I LOVE that stuff!! AND it’s on the clearance rack!!
Gorgeous flower! I love how you wrapped it up.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this card Shannon! Gerberas are a favourite of mine too and this one is so striking against this background. I love the textured cardstock too and loopy twine – this card is just gorgeous!!
I adore this die, and it is PERFECT for the color challenge! Such a gorgeous country feel to it….I keep going back and looking at it over & over again! I just read where Gerbera daisies are good to keep in your bedroom, as they release their oxygen at nighttime, giving one a better night’s sleep! I think I need the die AND the real flowers!!!
This is so beautiful, I love the Gerbera and the colour is perfection. I now want the die ๐ Cx
Shannon, gerbera daisies are my FAVORITE flowers because they are “happy” flowers! You card just makes me smile! I love the patterned background and how the flower just pops. I really think you just talked me into buying this die. ๐
Shannon, what a great take on the beautiful inspiration photograph. I also love the background to the flower. Beautiful card.
