‘Tis the Season

Greetings! I have really been giving the Peaceful Pines stamp set and the Perfect Pines coordinating dies from Stampin’ Up! quite the workout. My card was inspired by Kimberly Van Diepen, whose words “Don’t make crafting so difficult” really resonated with me. So I set out to re-create her card and ended up with one quite a bit different! But that’s okay, that’s why we all share our creations…

SKP Watermarked Photos5-034I used a ton of product on this card so I’ll just share it below and not drag it out here, but I did want to point out the envelope. It’s made with Stampin’ Up!’s Real Red Envelope Paper, available in the holiday catalog. Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have been asking for a lightweight envelope paper for a few years and I am delighted to say that it’s perfect!! Creating an envelope was a snap because the paper creases so easily. I love lined envelopes so I used this tutorial to create my matching envelope liner.

I had to make my envelope a little larger than usual because I got a bit carried away with the Stampin’ Dimensionals between each layer, but creating my own envelopes gave me the latitude to do so and I really like the finished card 🙂

I love the pop of color the washi tape adds…I always forget to use it, how about you?

And here’s a shot of the inside of the card…

SKP Watermarked Photos5-035Thanks for stopping by today! I’m in full Christmas card mode, hoping to get them in the mail the first week of December…fingers crossed!

Holly Jolly Christmas

Holly Jolly ChristmasThis is my second post today, a rare occurrence indeed!

If you have popped over from Stampin’ Pretty, welcome and thank you so much for visiting me today!

This card was inspired by a darling card made by Joanne James. When I saw the reindeer paperclips in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog, I could not imagine how I would use them. Then I saw Joanne’s card and the light came on! I love, love, loved the Rudolph nose on the clip!! I had to sit down and make my own 🙂

Holly Jolly ChristmasThere are lots of layers on this one but the layers were made easy with rectangular stitched dies. I die cut the DSP layers and then added Mossy Meadow layers to the back of them. All but the top layer are adhered directly to each other, the top layer was lifted with Stampin’ Dimensionals to leave room for the reindeer clip.

I die cut “jolly” three times using Stampin’ Up!’s Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies and adhered them together to make the greeting pop. The rest of the greeting is from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set and was stamped in Cherry Cobbler onto scrap pieces of white card stock, and then snipped out and layered onto Cherry Cobbler card stock. Easy peasy. If you like the look of the stamp set and the dies, you can purchase them in a bundle with a 15% discount!

And of course the Rudolph nose. That is the icing on the cake!! Thanks, Joanne, for your inspiration, and for choosing my card as A Cut Above with The Paper Players last week!

I don’t usually load my cards up this much so while I love it, one part of me is screaming “You forgot the kitchen sink!!” Is it all too much? I would love to hear what you think!

Thank you so much for stopping by!!

Merry & Bright – The Paper Players 268

Before jumping into today’s post, I wanted to share my excitement at having my card chosen as the headliner last week with The Paper Players!! Thank you so much Nance!!

Merry & Bright - The Paper Players 268I am really enjoying the Designer Series Paper this year from Stampin’ Up!. The pattern I used for today’s card is muted yet bold, and is the perfect backdrop for the drop dead gorgeous stamped images. And yes, I used Perfect Pines again because, well…they’re PERFECT!!

A simple circle provides a nice separation from the patterned paper and allows the focus to be on the tree and the sentiment. The cross stitch is an added bonus detail 🙂

Merry & Bright - The Paper Players 268The pretty poinsettias add a nice pop of red and help balance the card. Hint: I use the MISTI to double stamp the poinsettias, resulting in a vivd stamped image.

The Paper Players sketch this week was the inspiration for my card:

pp268I found the three panels to be a challenge, I just couldn’t make the math work so I eventually just cut the panels to 1 1/4″ wide each and then trimmed them down until the fit (and matched). I’m still not sure how that worked out, but I’m glad it did!! Thank you so much for stopping by!!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

Spooky Halloween – Freshly Made Sketches 209

Spooky Halloween - Freshly Made Sketches 209I picked up this adorable stamp set at the Scrapbook Expo today. It’s from a company called The Rubber Cafe. I have never heard of them before but I loved the images so much I had to run home and ink them up! I really didn’t have any Halloween stamps so the two sets I purchased should keep me for awhile 🙂

Spooky Halloween - Freshly Made Sketches 209I kept it simple but added a bit of pizzazz by embossing all the images. I thought it would be simple but it took me four tries to get it embossed! I was all thumbs today! I added an awesome black and white background paper (which is actually from a Christmas pad, believe it or not!) and the topped that off with stripes of Elegant Eggplant, Cucumber Crush and Tangerine Tango. A few dots always add that last bit!

I was inspired by the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches:

Fall Leaves – Sunday Stamps 112

Happy Sunday and welcome to another challenge from the Sunday Stamps design team!

SS112-10_17_15I love challenges like this where I have an opportunity to really showcase a product. For this challenge, I chose to feature the Lighthearted Leaves Stamp and Die bundle from Stampin’ Up!:

Fall Leaves - Sunday Stamps 112This leaf image is a show stopper so I kept the rest of the card design very clean with just a hint of Mossy Meadow cardstock peeking out to highlight the stamp. The coordinating dies make die cutting the leaves a breeze!

Fall Leaves - Sunday Stamps 112ShinHan Twin Touch Brush Markers add color to the stamps, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink is the perfect ink to use with alcohol markers-no smearing! Then just the small detail of a bit of Mossy Meadow Thick Twine (retired) for texture.

My card happens to work perfectly with The Paper Players challenge this week so I’ve entered it there as well! Sometimes things just work out perfectly!!

pp267I hope you have a moment to enjoy the creations by the rest of the Sunday Stamps design team. I’ve had a peek and they are super fun!

I love hearing from you! You can reach me here with any questions or comments.

Wishing you joy and blessings!
