3 Flowers – The Paper Players #238

It’s Sunday, and that means another challenge from The Paper Players! Let’s get right to it!!

pp238Eek! I L-O-V-E the Tic-Tac-Toe challenges!! So many FUN possibilities!! I can hardly wait to see your creations this week!! I vacilated a bit over the challenge, with so many options, it’s HARD to choose! In the end, my natural tendencies won out and I went with the combination of yellow, die-cut, and flowers:

SKP Watermarked Photos3-028 I went back to my roots with this one, super clean and simple, but with a powerful punch of YELLOW!! Yellow, Yellow, Yellow! I can’t think of anything happier!

I spent two days last week at the Scrapbook Expo in Anaheim, CA. I’m close enough that I drove back and forth each day. I don’t usually take classes, I just shop, but this time I took three classes over the two days and took my time shopping and interacting with the vendors. One of my stops was Rubbernecker Stamps. Jen Mitchell had posted a card using their Poppy Field stamp awhile ago and she inspired me to go online and purchase the stamp set myself (I haven’t used the stamp yet, of course).

Anyway, I was tickled to see them at the expo. The owner/designer was demonstrating a line of stamps that he has, the poppy included, that are geared toward easily creating a watercolor effect. He was telling the ladies that the stamp is designed to not be perfect, every card would be unique and a bit random. I told him that I don’t do random well and he said that his stamps probably wouldn’t work for me. So I had to prove him wrong. I now own four of his “random” stamp sets. LOL. Isn’t that like biting off your nose to spite your face?? I’ve now proven that I CAN do random, I just have to do it very carefully. hahahahahahahaha

SKP Watermarked Photos3-030There are three stamps used to created the final image. The owner/designer demonstrated a technique for getting the stamping reasonably close without the use of any other tools. I tried it and it works! So I will be using one of the other stamps very soon, and I will take pictures as I go to demonstrate how easy it is to line everything up.

For this card, I started with the larger, lighter flower stamp, and stamped it in Daffodil Delight. I used Crushed Curry for the smaller inside of the flower and then heat embossed the flower outline and leaves with black embossing powder. I found a sentiment that suited the flower in the Blissful Butterflies stamp set by MFT Stamps and heat embossed that as well.

SKP Watermarked Photos3-031Three randomly (not so randomly) placed sequins are the perfect jewelry for this card, providing visual interest while still letting the beautiful image take center stage.

And that’s it!! Won’t you please let me know what you think? And won’t you also please take a minute to see what the other designers have created for you this week? I sneaked a peek and there is some awesome stuff to see!!
