Christmas in July – Freshly Made Sketches 295

–Stampin-Up-Santa's-Sleigh-Christmas-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

I know…you’re thinking “whhaaaattttt????” But it IS July and despite the fact that it was 106 degrees yesterday, we cannot hide from the fact that Christmas is only 170 days away! Time to start thinking about those beautiful handmade cards we promise ourselves we are going to create and send out every year…let’s make THIS the year we actually DO it!!

Details:

  • When I think of Christmas cards, I think of sending everyone a beautifully detailed, intricate one-of-a-kind Christmas card…and then I wake up and realize that the only way I will EVER get done is to mass produce! So…I make cards that can easily be recreated and for me that means simple and BOLD.
  • I absolutely adore this particular pattern from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper pack, it is SO striking! I originally had the entire background as this pattern paper but in the end relented, if only to follow the challenge sketch…so I added it as an envelope liner instead 🙂

  • Are you wondering if those white splatters are a mistake?? Nope! The paper comes that way and I LOVE it! It adds such a fun texture to the design!
  • Simple stamps and their coordinating dies, both called Santa’s Sleigh, make an eye-catching focal point without a lot of fuss – always a plus in my book! Santa’s Sleigh is a carryover from last year’s holiday catalog and I am delighted to have another year to play with it!!
  • I have been pondering this Merry Christmas sentiment from the Better Together stamp set for a long time, trying to figure out what to use it with so it would look good…I think it works perfectly in this design, very graphic and clean!
  • The simple wreath, stamped in Garden Green, around the reindeer’s neck added a sweet pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic card. I stamped it, die cut it, and made a snip at the top so I could wrap it around the reindeer’s neck.
  • I added a small strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock at the top of the pattern paper. I thought it was a nice detail to have it popping out above the ribbon. The ribbon is retired, probably from last year, but I didn’t have any current ribbon in Cherry Cobbler and this ribbon is so soft and flexible, it makes a great looking knot!
  • The large enamel dot is retired product as well but I used it in conjunction with two other sizes of Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shapes for a fun detail that also goes along with the sketch. So cute!

  • I used the coordinating stamp from the Better Together stamp set to stamp the inside of my holiday card. You could easily stamp directly onto the inside of the card without adding the Cherry Cobbler card stock frame…I just like layers 🙂

This sketch from Narelle of the Freshly Made Sketches design team was my jumping off point for my first Christmas card of the year:

A big THANK YOU to Narelle and the whole team for their inspiration week in and week out…you guys keep me stamping!!

I’m so glad you popped by today. I would love to hear if you have started your cards yet or when you plan on getting started!

Bold Birthday – Freshly Made Sketches 293

Stampin-Up-Celebrate-You-Birthday-Card-Idea-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

It’s still so hot today, 105 degrees, that I feel like I’m melting so…this is a day best spent indoors in my craft room! I have a very quick and easy card today for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Details:

  • This bold red pattern paper from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper is so crisp and clean that I really wanted to showcase it and keep everything else very minimal
  • The stitching on the curve was done using a die from Lil ‘Inker called Border Builders

Stampin-Up-Celebrate-You-Birthday-Card-Ideas-Shannon-Jaramillo-stampinup

  • Isn’t this birthday sentiment fabulous? It’s from the Celebrate You stamp set. I stamped the image in Real Red and ran it through the Big Shot with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and then paired it up with the corresponding scallop oval shape from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies
  • Bow, Bows, Bows. I’m really into bows right now! This 3/8″ Stitched Satin ribbon in Real Red is retired but looks so pretty here tied in a double bow!
  • Star Enamel Shapes make the perfect finishing touch for this very clean and simple card!

  • I even kept the inside clean and minimal with just this darling sentiment from the Birthday Delivery stamp set

And here’s the sketch that started it all from the awesomely talented Karen of the Freshly Made Sketches design team:

Details:

  • Birthday Memories is a colorful designer series paper with a twist…you can actually die cut images from the paper out!! Really! See the adorable cake die cut? It is not stamped! (I’m SO not that good) It’s die cut from one of the papers in the set with the coordinating Birthday Friends Framllits…all products from this suite will be available for purchase on June 1, 2017!
  • The striped background paper is also a fun selection from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper. To achieve the split in the sketch, I simply cut the paper 1 1/2″ from the bottom and then trimmed an 1/8″ from the bottom piece and mounted them both onto the Whisper White layer
  • The envelope line is ANOTHER selection from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper…it’s a GREAT pack of paper:)
  • Can you see the coordinating cake stamp on the envelope? It’s from the Birthday Greetings stamp set coming June 1st. So as you can see, you can use the framelits to cut the designer series paper OR you can use them to cut out stamped images. SO many options!! LOVE this suite of products!

  • The Layering Circles Framelits easily create the perfect backdrop for our lovely cake…which has had Wink of Stella applied liberally to all of the frosting decorations so they SPARKLE!
  • And the sparkle on the cake matches the sparkle in the Glitter Enamel Dots! I used the Old Olive toned dots here today. This new product has been wildly popular in our demonstrator pre sale period, exceeding all expectations, and will be on back order on June 1st. As soon as they are available I will be sure to get the word out…everyone will want these darlings!!

  • I used a few more stamps from the Birthday Greetings stamp set on the inside of the card. The sentiment is stamped in pacific Point and the present is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored in using the Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Marker.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this sneak peek of new products coming in the new catalog…June 1st is only 8 days away!! Have you started your wish list?!?

For A Wonderful Friend Birthday Card Ideas - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

I have noticed that my most favorite cards are created when I have the recipient in mind. And today’s card bears that theory out! When you pair a large box of brand new Stampin’ Up! goodies with a good friend’s birthday, good things happen!!

  • Thick Whisper White card base cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper Stacks cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Sweet Sugarplum card stock cut to 4 1/4″ x 3 5/8″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper Stacks cut to 4″ x 3 3/8″
  • Thick Whisper White card stock cut to 3″ x 4 1/4″
  • Old Olive card stock banner cut to 3/4″ x 5″
  • Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer Paper cut to 3/4″ x 4 3/4″

  • Coordinating products are what REALLY makes this card. And this spring Stampin’ Up! has given us some fabulous products to work with…
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper. That Sweet Sugarplum gingham pattern is to die for! And it really plays well together with the bold pattern of the succulents. And Old Olive…I would NEVER have thought to pair it with Sweet Sugarplum, but oh my goodness! They are beautiful together!
  • And then the glimmer paper. I have no words for how sparkly and wonderful this paper is. And to be honest…I have a love/hate relationship with glimmer paper in that I love to HATE it. But no more. This butterfly has converted me.

For A Wonderful Friend Birthdays Cards Idea - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

  • One more photo of the glimmer paper up close…just in case you didn’t believe me. G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. And only available as a free item with a $50 minimum purchase. And only available until March 31st or until supplies run out.
  • I used the Butterflies Thinlits Dies to create this beauty. Hint: when using glimmer paper, die cut it from the back.
  • I used very thinly snipped Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop my butterfly up. I also popped everything off of the gingham paper to make it more dimensional.
  • Dragonfly Dreams is where you will find this sentiment. So sweet and the font is so hip! Again, love it in Old Olive!

For A Wonderful Friend Birthday Cards Ideas - Shannon Jaramillo Stampin Up

  • I couldn’t resist adding more gingham to the inside of the card as well as more of the beautiful succulent pattern to the envelope liner. Love, love love this papers!

I decided to add my own personal note to the inside for a dear friend and fellow stamper, so I know she will appreciate every detail. It’s so nice when you know how much the recipient will appreciate your card, right??

Thank you to Rita with the Freshly Made Sketches design team for giving us such a fun sketch to work with this week!

As a funny side note, I forgot to link last week’s creation up with the challenge so they never got to see my card or my thank you to CĂ©cile for picking my card as her princess the prior week. So again, thank you CĂ©cile!

As always, comments motivate me so I would love to hear from you! Thank you so much for stopping by!
