Watercolor Wings

Last weekend I had the good fortune to attend a wonderful event for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, organized by Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. It was wonderful to spend time with old friends, make new friends as well as learn from the best. And of course pretty much any time stampers get together there’s a swap! There’s a bit of a funny story behind this card: The organizer of the event, Lisa Pretto, listed in the swap requirement that we needed to bring our “best work”. Oh my goodness, I went into a complete panic over that line, being the perfectionist that I am, and couldn’t come up with a single idea! I had posted about my dilemma in our private FB chat group and Lisa jumped right in to say that she wanted no part of being responsible for my angst! (In a funny way of course) lol. It was suggested to me to go back to my gallery and draw inspiration from a previous project. I did just that and found this card. Suddenly the block cleared and I was able to create again!

I chose to showcase the stamp set Watercolor Wings, setting it off with Mint Macaron and Basic Black. I tried to keep it simple because I needed to make 28 of them, but…I kept having to add layers!!

In this close up I hope you can see that the butterfly has been liberally colored with Wink of Stella, it shimmers so prettily!! And everyone got a kick out of the fact that my clothing the night of the swap matched my card! What can I say, I LOVE this color!!

I’m still trying to catch up with my life after being sick for a week and then gone for the weekend but I plan to photograph and share all of the swap cards I received as well as some photos of the participants as well.

Thank you for stopping by, please let me know what you think about this card…did it hit the mark?

Celebrate With Cake – Pals Paper Arts 284

Happy Friday to you!! I’be been seeing some darling creations with the new sketch over at the Pals Paper Arts challenge so I decided I wanted to get in on the action:

Cute?? I’m obviously enamored of Melon Mambo which is funny because I’ve not really used it much in the past 🙂

Don’t be afraid to go bold! Here I’ve paired two large bold patterns together and then added a large bold sentiment on top.

I’ve been trying for ages to incorporate a doily onto a card…this one has been sponged with Tip Top Taupe ink and then covered liberally with Wink of Stella. Can you see the sparkle?

For an added bonus, I also added sparkle to the word “Celebrate”. A bit of ribbon and a few darling Enamel Dots round the card off.
