So Glad We’re Friends – The Card Concept 37

It’s Wednesday and time for another delightful challenge from The Card Concept!:

06:10CC37Isn’t the inspiration photo delightful? I adore it! I was so inspired by the blended colors and the white details. I’m also inspired by the obvious subject matter, but having made several butterfly cards recently, I decided to use flowers instead…I know, that’s quite a shock to you! (If you follow my blog at all, my choice of flowers is not really very shocking at all, lol)

SKP Watermarked Photos4-044I must apologize to you and admit that I quite forgot my design category when designing this card. I was so wrapped up in the blended colors that everything else quite flew right out of my head! But aren’t the flowers wonderful? They’re from a never before used set called Scribble Flowers by MFT Stamps.  I had so much fun playing with color combinations for this card. I used a simple ‘rock and roll’ technique to create them. I stamped my flowers in their main color and then cleaned the stamp off. I then inked the stamp up again in the second color, but this time I rolled the stamp through the ink, inking up only the outside edge of the stamp and then applied it on top of my stamped image. It didn’t need to be perfect as I knew I would use the scribble die to add detail to the top.

So Glad We're Friends - The Card Concept 37cI cut a frame out using MFT Stamps Rectangle Frames and popped it up onto a pattern paper background. I stamped the flower stems and leaves in a soft color so that I could add my sentiment in the same bright ink as I used on the largest flower. I added the blooms to the stems using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the effect the layering gives the card. I HAD to add a few dots of color to finish the card off.

Everything except the dots falls under the ‘clean and graphic’ definition, I’m a rebel so the dots are staying…sorry!

Please be inspired by the designs from the rest of The Card Concept design team, they are soooo talented!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

Taking Flight for Your Birthday – Retro Sketches #157

SKP Watermarked Photos3-023Was this ever a fun card to make!! I was inspired by the sketch this week over at Retro Sketches:

rs157I pulled out some fun paper from Carta Bella and finally inked up a stamp set by Clearly Besotted Stamps called Take Flight.

SKP Watermarked Photos3-026I used a star pattern paper for the backing to my shaker and then filled it with confetti and circles from my Shakers & Sprinkles Collection from Papertrey Ink. Not a sequin or a bit of sparkle anywhere for THIS card!

SKP Watermarked Photos3-027I popped the sentiment and airplane up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and added two pieces of confetti on the outside of the shaker frame for a bit more pop. I was a bit unhappy when I had stamped my airplane and reached for the packet to grab the dies and there were none. Oops! I seem to do that ALL the time with my Clearly Besotted Stamps…I have NO idea why!! So I was reduced to fussy cutting the airplane and banner out. It took a bit longer but was definitely worth it!

If you have a chance, please pop over to Retro Sketches, they have lots of inspiration there with this awesome sketch!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I appreciate your visit so much!!

Wishing you joy and blessings!

It’s Your Birthday! – CAS(E) this Sketch #113

SKP Watermarked Photos2-110Hello Stampers and Happy Saturday to You!! Yesterday was my Friday off from work so I chose to spend my day playing with paper! Isn’t this a fun birthday card? This week’s sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch was my jumping off point:

CTS_Sketch_113

It’s a great sketch! Clean and crisp and you have to love those banners off the side!! While I was looking through my supplies for more inspiration I came across a frame that I had cut out for a window shaker and accidentally adhered the dimensional foam to the frame without adding the clear window first…oops! I kept it, thinking it would be a nice frame for something anyway and here I am not one week later, using it that way! It is perfect for this sketch! I love when things like that happen!

SKP Watermarked Photos2-113Isn’t the sentiment fun?? This stamp set from Studio Calico came in a card kit I purchased last summer and haven’t used yet. Unfortunately, the name of the set wasn’t on the packaging and I can’t see it on their website, so it shall remain nameless, but it was a perfect size and shape for this sketch! After finding the stamp, the rest of the papers and ink colors came together quickly. I used the squiggle and asterisk stamps from my Favorite Flowers Simon Says Stamp set to make some fun party confetti.

SKP Watermarked Photos2-112Darling balloons from Clearly Besotted Stamps take the place of the banners in the sketch and definitely round this fun birthday card out. You can’t see from the picture of course, but I have added Wink of Stella to my confetti which adds fun sparkle to the card 🙂

Thank you so much for stopping by! I will be back tomorrow with another fun challenge from The Paper Players…I can’t wait to share!

Wishing you joy and blessings!
