Life is Beautiful – Sneak Peek of New Products!

W.O.W. What do you think of my sneak peek of the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G new stamp set Life is Beautiful as well as the F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S new pattern paper Good Life Prints? Both of these products are part of The Good Life suite of products available in the 2018-19 FSJ (Fun Stampers Journey) annual catalog, which will go live this Sunday, July 1, 2018! Do you love what you see? I picked up a bundle of products from the suite at convention this last week and knew that I had to sit down and play with them just as soon as I could!! The rest of the suite is equally amazing and I can’t wait to get it all! I may never play with anything else again!! The rest of the papers in this paper pack are all so beautiful too!! (can you tell I’m excited?!?)

Details:

One of the big announcements at convention was the introduction of 6 new colors to the FSJ color palette. All six colors are warm and earthy and are designed to coordinate with The Good Life Suite. In fact, I have two words to sum up the new colors and the entire suite of products – Joanna Gaines. Yep. Absolutely brilliant. I will share all of the colors in a future post, but the one I used here for my layering is the perfect shade of light gray and is called Tin Pail. The name is PERFECT for the color!!
The blue in the checked pattern is probably actually another new color called Chambray Shirt, I don’t actually know yet because the list of coordinating colors has been released yet, but when I paired the checked paper and the Chambray Shirt card stock, the card stock wasn’t quite deep enough to balance out the blue check, so I went slightly darker with Huckleberry Fusion card stock and think it’s a stunning combination.

I used the Journey Color Burst Colored Pencils to color in this delightful image of flowers in an old-fashioned milk bottle. For the flowers petals I used pencils 31 and 32, for the flower center I used pencil 15 (which is Summer Days) and for the milk jug I used shades of grey with pencils 29 and 47. I used the color burst blender to blend the color just a smidge but really liked the edgy look of the original layers of color.
Both the vase of flowers and the sentiment were stamped in Black Licorice Fusion Ink and the the sentiment was die cut with its’ coordinating die and popped up with foam squares.

Once I had the sentiment all cozied up with my natural twine bow, I used a fine paint brush and added just a touch of Journey Glaze to the sentiment to help it pop and add shine. I’ve never used Journey Glaze, or anything like it before, so I was very cautious about how much I used. I also added a drop of Summer Days ink to the flower centers and then added a drop of Journey Glaze to them as well. They sparkle so prettily!!
The button? I don’t have a big collection of embellishments (yet) so I just pulled this little wood button out of my old scrapbooking stash ad adhered it with a glue dot. The bow just needed a little somethin’ somethin’ 🙂

Blue Skies Ahead

Hello again my crafty friends! It’s both the end of the FSJ catalog year (June 30th) and the lead up into the new catalog year (July 1st!) and the week after convention so I have SO much to share! In my efforts to create swaps for convention as well as reorganize my craft space I have not had a chance to play with many of products in the current Trends Mini Catalog, which is a shame as it has some absolutely darling products in it! One of my favorite stamp sets in the mini is called Blue Skies. It features the Blue Skies stamp set, the Blue Skies die set, and of course the Blue Skies Bundle which is both the stamp set and the die set at a savings of 10%! Yep, we love bundles!!

Details:

I wanted the focus of this card to be the gorgeous balloon stamp so I used a Whip Cream card base and then used the 5″ x 3 7/8″ Journey Rectangle Die to add a fun pierced edge to my stamped layer.
I stamped the balloon from the Blue Skies stamp set using Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink Pad. The beauty of this ink pad, besides it’s nice vivid stamped color, is that it will work on any surface, including paper, wood, fabric, and acrylic, and becomes permanent when heat-set on non-paper materials. So no smearing or remembering which black ink pad to use with which coloring medium – you just need this one pad!
The coloring was done in a beautiful palette of colors from a challenge I was participating in, and colored with the Color Burst Colored Pencils. These colored pencils come in a metal tin, are numbered, and have all of the color combinations needed for matching all of the awesome FSJ colors! So cool!!

Now, I’m a novice colorer, but I am really pleased with how this turned out. I had some help from the Color Burst Blenders – they really did a great job of smoothly out those coloring lines!

If you will notice, I offset the balloon stamp a bit to the right on my card stock panel to leave room for a sentiment. At some point during the creation of this card, I decided this would be a wonderful graduation card for my niece, who was graduating from college (so proud of her) so I pulled out the Begin Adventure ATS stamp and inked up this darling sentiment. Isn’t it just perfect for a graduation card? I love it and can’t wait to see where her adventure takes her! I offset the sentiment image to the left to balance my card out. Can you tell that the word ‘adventure’ in the sentiment is a bit bolder than the other words? I LOVE that extra touch!!!
And Of course I needed to add sparkle to my card in the form of Journey Sequins Bloom Time. But once I added my traditional 3 sequins, I went crazy and added more to the balloon – so pretty!

The Inking the Way Journey Coach challenge was the inspiration for my colors today – so beautiful! I needed to use at least three of the colors so I focused on Huckleberry Fusion, Beach Ball and Summer Days 🙂

For A Tweet Friend – Freshly Made Sketches 277

After a long day at work, my heart and spirit are lifted by these luscious colors and darling birds!!

The Details:

Papertrey Stamper’s Select white card base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″

Papertrey Stamper’s Select white card stock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″
Sentiment panel is 3 3/8″ x 11/16″

Coloring terrifies me but even knowing that, I keep buying stamps that need to be colored!! And these darling Doodled Birds from JustRite Stamps begged me to add color so I pulled out my Shin-Han markers and played a bit. It’s not professional by any means but it makes me happy 🙂
I added a bit of black card stock with the sentiment embossed in white for an added pop
Random pretty sequins adhered with glue dots reinforce the whimsical feel

The birdies wings and tail feathers are made super sparkly with the addition of Wink of Stella. Best. Invention. Ever. -Okay.After.The.Big.Shot. -And.The.MISTI. –But.Still.!!

I mimic the front of the card on the interior and added a sweet sentiment. I can’t wait to pop this in the mail!

Flowering Fields – SIP #28 Anything but Christmas

Hello! I’ve been on a crafting hiatus during this busy time of year, but I found some me time today and tried out some new product that Santa brought to me!

One of my favorite new products in the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration catalog is Flowering Fields. A versatile set, very soft and pretty!

Details:

Colors are Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Old Olive and Lost Lagoon
The card front is watercolor paper, perfect for use with both the Aqua Painter and the Blender Pen. I am challenged with an Aqua Painter so I used a Blender pen. To make sure I get a small amount of ink, I tap a clean stamp block to the ink pad and then pick ink up from that with the Blender Pen.
I painted the flowers with soft color and then went back with a bit more color for shading.
The sentiment is from another Sale-A-Bration stamp set called What I Love, and I love the font!! It’s a perfect match for the flowers!!
I used linen thread across the front of the card, anchored to the back and then attached the sentiment banner with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then used the linen thread to create a bow and attached it to the banner with a glue dot. Tip: For fine uses such as this bow, I attach the glue dot and then fold it over onto itself (in half) so that it remains hidden.
I used Crumb Cake card stock for the base, followed by mats in Blackberry Bliss and Old Olive.
The lovely paper used for the envelope liner is from another Sale-A-Bration product, Wildflower Fields DSP (Designer Series Paper)

Garden in Bloom – CAS(E) this Sketch 126 & SIP #1

Hello my friends!! I received a package of goodies from the Stampin’ Up! catalog this evening and HAD to dive in! It’s funny, I knew the box was on it’s way, so when I saw the sketch this week over at CAS(E) this Sketch, I knew exactly what I wanted to create!

This stamp set is perfect for this challenge!

This new stamp set called Garden in Bloom is a new set in the 2015-2016 annual catalog and I’m a sucker for flowers…what can I say 🙂 I love the sketchy, watercolor-y feel of these flowers. I inked them up in Mint Macaron which is a brand new color…love it!!!

The MISTI made the placement of my flowers a breeze, and I was pleased to note that these photopolymer stamps have a built in placement guide which is SOOO helpful!! Not all stamp companies do this, so it’s a definite plus in my book!

I added a few silver sequins, also in the new catalog, and a bit of Wink of Stella to my flowers. Isn’t the sentiment adorable? It’s from another new set in the catalog called One Big Meaning. And it’s a new favorite of mine!!

A few comments on some of the items I have used here today:

Stampin’ Up! has added a thicker Whisper White card stock to it’s product lineup and I can heartily endorse it. It’s a perfect weight of cardstock for card bases.
Their new DSP paper packs are now a 6 x 6 size, perfect for card making, and you get 4 of each pattern in the pack for a total of 48 pieces of paper!

A friend of mine, Justin, has started his own challenge so of course I want to play along and support him and he has made that as easy as pie with Challenge #1:
